Received a letter from Hyundai yesterday that states "The warranty coverage for the multi function switch has been extended to 15 years with unlimited miles from the date of retail delivery"
First question. Is the multifunction switch the lever that comes off the steering column that controls the hi beams or is it something else.
Second question. Why would Hyundai do this? My guess it's part of a lawsuit settlement.

Original owner, 5.0 V8, 15,700 trouble free miles.

Since the MFS controls things like turn signals and headlights, they dont want a NHTSA recall, so they're doing a warranty extension.

My moms Genesis experienced this a while back. Driving at night, the headlights would suddenly turn off, turning hte headlight switch off and back on would fix it, but it would be ok for 2 mins or an hour.

I called the Genesis dealer and talked to the parts counter to order the part, and he said "well wait, let me get you to service, we've seen some of these". So they told me they would "cover it as a courtesy", sent a "Genesis concierge" to her house and left her a loaner, took her car, performed the repair, and brought it back washed and with a full tank of fuel. I was very surprised.

Thank you 1Ags. I thought it was something like that. Haven't had that gremlin but I don't drive mine that much. Since COVID maybe 300 miles.

Wife has a '19 Tucson. 4 cyl with turbo. About ten months into it she started having a shutter and delay when stepping on the gas. Transmission replaced, loaner for the time it was in the shop. Absolutely great customer service. This was the College Station Hyundai dealership. I believe "Flat Out" is the service manager.
