2013 Kia Sorento and the airbag warning light came on today. I put my little code reader on it but it didn't pull any codes. The passenger seat airbag detection light still works and shows "off" when the seat is unoccupied.

Question is, will it pass inspection this week with the warning light on? I can't get the light to reset off. Limited Google research indicates this could be a costly repair.

It should in texas at least. Have to special pod to deal with srs and abs subsystem

Yeah I just saw online that the normal code readers don't pull safety or airbag codes. Bummer. Don't really want to take to a dealer and pay just to have the code read.

Buy a code reader on amazon for $20

Harris County here. I personally know for a fact it will pass with airbag light on, assuming no other deficiencies.

Take it to Bolens automotive (mccart) and they will shoot you straight. Randy Bolen is a great man.
