Hey guys, I'm flying in to Marfa from 3/7-3/9 and need to rent a car. Does anyone have any contacts that could help? Best I can find is Alpine Auto 30 minutes away.

You might have better luck renting a horse. Does the airport not have a few rentals?

Private airstrip? I didn't think Marfa had an "airport."

Alpine Auto is whom I talked to about renting a truck awhile back, but opted to rent one from where I was traveling from.

It'll at least be "busy" in the area during that time due to Spring Break. There may be some Uber or Lyft drivers around.

Check with uhaul. They're pretty much everywhere and the last time I rented there the pickup truck was cheaper than the rental car I was driving at the time.

Pretty sure Alpine Auto is the uHaul vendor there. Best option is Ft. Stockton, but that's a good drive from Marfa.

If you're flying yourself, fly into Alpine instead. Or call the FBO. It appears to me that the FBO has a courtesy car, and that they routinely get rental cars delivered. Also appears to be a shuttle into town by the Visitor's Center

Ground transportation to/from town provided by Marfa Visitor Center 452.729.4772.

Might not work if you need to travel into the countryside, or need the car for several days.

I've flown into Marfa many times. They do have a crew car and they hide a key to the room where the crew car keys are in if you need it after hours. You can't reserve the crew car, but call the FBO and they might tell you how to get the keys if you're going to be there after hours. There is also Tipsy Taxi 432-294-0990 that I have used. In a bind, I've gone out to the highway and paid a guy $20 to give me a ride into Marfa and back to the airport.

If you need hotel or restaurant suggestions, I've been to a few.

Unrelated to your question Marfa story:
I got my instrument rating at American Flyers in Addison. American Flyers had framed letters in the hallways from former students telling American Flyers how thankful they were and what great flight training they received there. One of the letters was from the CEO of Western Sizzlin and he included a picture of him leaning against his Ferrari Mondial in front of his Cessna 182 RG and I'm sure he thought he looked really cool. With that in mind, I told my wife to take picture of me in Marfa with the crew car so I could send a similar letter and picture to American Flyers. I still haven't typed the letter, and probably never will, but here is the picture:

Just ask Tim Crowley if you can borrow one of his cars.
