Current OEM battery on my 2015 F150 is about to bite the dust. Jiffy Lube has an Interstate battery that would cost a little over $200 out the door. I can get an Everstart Maxx at Walmart for $120. Is the Interstate really worth it? If I get the Everstart am I going to be replacing it every year or two?

Same few companies make all the batteries. Get the Walmart one with the 3 yr warranty and you'll probably get 4 years out of it.

In fact I'm pretty sure the interstate and everstart are made by the same company

Assuming you have one nearby, have you checked out Costco?
My boss buys all his batteries there and swears by them.

No Costco but we have a Sam's. Doesn't Costco sell Interstate?

I've had good luck with both. Have changed more everstarts than interstates though. I may be dumb but I typically spring for the interstate

Side note, the only battery I've ever had to replace under warranty was an interstate.

Not sure which engine you have, but Advance Auto Autocraft Gold battery costs $120 after 25% off using code "COUPON25"

I always use Advance Auto, order online with coupon, and pick up in store

Costco Interstate here as well.

You get to install it yourself too.

Never had issues with wal-mart 3 year warranty barriers. Have bought 3 over the years

Costco has interstate as well.

Pep Boys has rebates and sales until the end of this month on batteries as well.

Johnson Controls has most of the market, and theyre all decent.

They make: Sams Clubs, Walmart, Autozone, motorcraft, etc.

FWIW, I've bought the cheapest ValuStart from Walmart on a cheap project car and it lasted as long as the Maxx.

You can go full crazy and get an Odyssey: https://www.odysseybattery.com/

Just put one in my Expedition on Sunday. Have them in most of my cars.

Just decided to save a few bucks and get the Everstart Maxx this morning at Walmart. They swapped it out for me and disposed of the old one. $132 out the door.

Cheapest Walmart battery available is in my chevy and has a 2013 sticker on it. Previous battery lasted 6.5 years. I'm on my third battery and third alternator. Won't use anything else except walmart.

Costco warranty on the replacement means I've always come ahead on the replacement.

I have been recently buying Walmart AGM batteries, they have a 5 year full replacement warranty and are about $150. In general, AGM are considered better batteries for thinks like vibration and recovery from repeated discharge. I would read up on the current state of Odyssey batteries before buying, since they were bought out I have only read bad things about them. Given their premium price did not think it was worth the risk.

The AGM Walmart Batteries are also Johnson Controls, right?

I think, maybe, you're talking about Optima. At least, I have not heard anything bad about Odyssey, but I have to admit that I don't follow any battery related forums. EnerSys has owned Odyssey for 20 years now.

Johnson Controls sold their battery business last year and it is now Clarios, which is owned by a global private equity group out of Canada.

I found this and if you scroll down to Clarios you can see they may pretty everything discussed here:
- Walmart
- Costco (Kirkland)
- Optima
- O'Reily
- Autozone
- Autocraft (Advanced Auto part)
- Delphi/AC Delco (GM)
- Ford/Motorcraft
- Firestone

5 years on the original battery? I'm surprised it didn't give up the ghost 15 months ago.
