My wife and I bought a 2019 Rogue from Douglass Nissan in May of this year. Since then we have had it in their service department a minimum of 7 times for several different recurring electrical issues (liftgate would not close, remote start doesn't always work, crash sensor flashes sometimes, auto headlights didn't work, and worst of all, the car when idling cut off and hesitated to restart). Every single time we've taken it in to Douglass Nissan's service department for these issues, we are told "unable to reproduce concern" or "could not duplicate concern". We're given excuses for these issues instead of resolving them.

Has anyone else experienced issues like this in a less than 1 year old vehicle (Douglass Nissan or other manufacturer), and if so, what was your outcome (did get you a new car, just deal with it, etc.)?

Also, is anyone familiar with "lemon laws"?

My advice, talk to the service manager and GM and tell them you'lll be contacting corporate if it doesn't get serious attention.

I have been in contact with the Service Manager for the past two days but all I'm getting is " we can't replicate the issue" and excuses as to why the issues might be occurring. In regards to the GM, I have been told twice that I'm going to receive a call from him and have yet to hear from him.

This. The difficulty in your situation is that these are all different issues. However, I would call it a recurring issue with the electrical system of the vehicle. I'm not an electrical engineer, but I wonder if there is a problem in the grounding of the vehicle. Has the dealer tested that? Do they have documentation of the voltages if they did? I would also call the headlight issue a serious safety concern in addition to the sudden loss of power on engine failure.

Texas Lemon Law

The burden on you regarding the lemon law is less for safety issues.

Take video of any future occurrences showing the lights that are on the dash plus any attempts to restart the car. Also show the location of the car so if it is failing in an "unsafe" place. If your vehicle is dead on a public roadway that is definitely a health hazard to you and others. Someone will run into you!

Youtube Steve Lehto, Attorney. Lemon law expert.

Might be a hassle... but have you considered taking it to another dealer?

Sounds like you may have a lemon. https://www.txdmv.gov/motorists/consumer-protection/lemon-law

I'll tell you from personal experience how you overcome the "couldn't reproduce" issue. You agree to let them keep it for several days and daily drive it to improve the chances of them reproducing the issue. In exchange they give you a loaner car.

Then you hold their loaner car hostage until they find and fix the problem. This could go on for weeks and get ugly, but it worked for me in the past.

Also, reproducing the issue has to happen before they'll even lift the hood typically. Meaning in your case they've likely looked at absolutely nothing, not even the basics.

So you should look into this yourself. Does the battery test ok? Is the voltage within spec? Are the battery cables tight? It could be just that simple.

Has anyone ever heard of a dealer admitting you have bought a new car lemon without a lawyer?

It may happen but I just don't know of one. Most of the time it, after many arguments and wasted time, it comes down to just trading in the car on something else and the buyer is so mad they go somewhere else.

Coworker bought a new Nissan Murano that was in the shop 2 solid months on transmission issues. Dealer gave some kind of a small discount and said just trade it in somewhere else. Yep, just pass on the lemon to someone else. Same with the Buick Enclave my sister in law bought.

Nissans seem to have electrical issues.

Back in the late 00s I bought a new Nissan Murano. 2 days after I brought my new car home I walked out to my apt parking lot and found the front windows 1/2 rolled down. Thought it odd but figured I must have left them down.

2 days later same thing happened again and I KNEW I hadn't left them down. Took it to dealer 3 times and always got the "couldn't recreate" response. Except that the third time as I'm walking back to my car to drive away frustrated yet again, the windows rolled themselves down on the spot.

They had my car in for almost a full month fixing it.

5 years later I'm driving 80 mph on the tollway and my seat breaks and falls down and backward. It's a miracle I didn't cause a major accident. When I took it in the service dude said that he'd seen a large number of this same issue but that it wasn't a recall or covered under warranty. I'll never own another Nissan.

My daughter drives an 07 maxima that I used to drive. Weird electrical stuff that I narrowed down to the key fob. While driving, the locks would decide to go crazy, locking and unlocking in rapid sequence. Then when it was raining one time (of course) the sunroof decided to open on its own and wouldn't close.

Removed the fob and just use the key now, problems have subsided. Pretty ridiculous.

I have a love/hate relationship with that car. The engine is fun and runs pretty darn well. The rest of the little crap drives me crazy though.
