How long do you want to ignore this user?
I am looking for references of who to deal with at a Chevy dealership in/near Klein/Spring/Cypress. I am looking to make a car change and wanting to look into leasing a 2019 Chevy Traverse.

TIA

Are you open to recommendations on non terrible vehicles? What are you hoping to use it for?

Sure. Every review I've seen raves about them. People I know who have them love them.

I'm open to more opinions though. My brother has the new Subaru, looks nice but seems overpriced and very little interior space for being a "larger" 3rd row seat SUV. I've looked at the Honda Pilot and they just seem so frumpy

We want a good size 3rd row seat SUV, we have a '14 Kia Sorento currently without the third row and I freaking hate that car and I want it out of my life.

Curious what you hate about the Sorento? Death by 1,000 small things breaking?

Ding ding ding, in a car that has a relatively loud ride, not very good MPG and doesnt have the third row which we would really like. My parents live in the same immediate area as us and Id like a car that can carry our family of 4 plus them on occasion

I'd recommend against leasing in general.

My 2 cents on the 3 row world. YMMV.

Ones that I would recommend:
Ford Explorer (2020 is all new, if you dont have to have the 2020, there are great deals on 2019s)
Kia Telluride
Toyota Highlander/RX350L
Subaru Ascent - Please Subaru, put in a traditional Transaxle!
Mazda CX9
Hyundai Palisade

Ones that I'm indifferent on that are probably OK choices...
Pathfinder/QX60 - Older design but the CVT scares me QX60 is a great value used/CPO
Honda Pilot/Acura MDX - the transmissions had issues, but I think they're largely worked out by now.
Hyundai Santa Fe/Kia Sorento - Good vehicles but the replacements above are a cut above the rest. Probably great deals on CPO ones.
LOLvo XC90
VW Atlas - Long term reliability is questionable.

LOLno.
GMC Acadia/Chevy Traverse/Cadillac XT6/Buick Enclave
Dodge Durango
Mitsubishi Outlander
Dodge Journey

Id like to hear your rationale outright against leasing....ive been on the fence here for a long time and finally just decided to try it and see how it goes. during the school year (wife is a teacher and this will be her car) she drives 5 miles to work. We do most daily driving in the car currently as well. Since id like to try and get her in a new car at or by the new year i have been doing some tracking...in September, with a trip to the family lakehouse included she drove 759, I looked yesterday and through the last month and a hald she is at 1200 miles....Many trips in that car can even be cut down very easily by just driving my truck instead

On your recommendation:
I will not buy a Ford, Ive had one hated it, my brother has had multiple and I hated all of them, hard pass

After this Sorento I will never buy another Kia...but those do look nice but just not playing that game again.

Sister in law drives the Subaru and it is a nice car but doesnt seem any bigger than the sorento and just a 3rd row crammed in the back, no storage behind it and only about 5' gap between the captains chairs so you have to move one to easily access the back seat, we have 2 car seats so I dont want that hassle

My inlaws have a highlander and I will admit I do really like that car, if I recall it is higher priced

Mazda I know nothing about, Hyundai I have always just considered a lower end car and never really considered

Please do not buy or lease a Traverse/Enclave/Acadia. I have a 13 Acadia and it's the worst vehicle we've ever owned. Numerous issues. Had engine removed to fix oil leaks. AC problems twice.

It sounds to me like you have decided to buy a Traverse and are looking for people to agree with you. Good luck with your purchasing experience and hope someone can jump in here with a good contact for you.

You never build equity when leasing. And you're at the mercy of the leasing company to determine 'wear and tear' when you turn it in.

Lets look at an example for a typical lease for an Accord or Camry (something with decent resale value, unlike your Traverse). After $1,999 down, the lease payments are just $249 a month for a 36-month, 36,000 mile lease. The total cost for three years comes to $10,963. Let's assume you found a similar lease again for another three years. Your total cost comes to $21,926, or $3,654 a year for six years.

The same vehicle had a target price of $22,460 according to truecar/KBB/NADA. If you put the same $1,999 down and financed the car for 48 months at 3.9 percent, your monthly payment would come to $446.88. At the end of the four-year loan, the total cost to purchase the car (including interest) comes to $23,449. Over six years, your annual cost would come to $3,908 a year.

So leasing is cheaper by a few hundred bucks....

But wait! There's more....

NADA says that a 6 year old Camry LE condition fetches about $10,500 private party sale. So whether you sell the car or apply the trade-in value toward your next purchase, your actual cost of ownership is reduced to $2150/yr.

Completely open to reasons not to...but just being told not to without rationale doesnt do much. I welcome anything to steer me away from a bad buy but just saying dont do it isnt really a review. Ive seen good reviews on CarPro, Edmunds and KBB

I will say I went and looked at the Palisade reviews and they were very complementary and I like the look and really like the price of that option. Is sounds like it lacks a bit in the motor and storage capacity but we dont drive a 3 row SUV like a sports car.

I am really looking forward to additional info in terms of not leasing

My wife's family tried to push her towards a traverse for "safety." She said **** no and went with a 4Runner.

Based on your needs, you should really also look at minivans. Plenty of space for 2 carseats, while still maintaining easily accessible adult sized 3rd row seating. Also, no shortage of cargo space with all rows up.

A Pacifica, Odyssey, or Sienna will provide the same amount of driving excitement as any comparable large 3 row SUV while maximizing functionality. If you need AWD, the Sienna has that option.

Leasing pro - if this Gen of traverse is as terribad as previous then you aren't stuck with it.

Leasing con - 2 carseat aged kids can be rough on an interior. That could run up a pretty big bill at turn in time.

Before we got married my now wife leased a car when she had a 5 mile commute. Job changes led to a 30 mile commute. Made it so that we had to watch and worry about miles and use the other vehicle as much as possible to not go over. It was annoying to be paying on a car and feel like you couldn't fully utilize it. Your wife being a teacher should mean good stability but you never know.

Is storage behind the third row really that important if it's just for the occasional local trip with the parents? If you said you wanted to take trips with 6 then yeah it makes more sense to focus on storage.

1ags economics lay out a pretty good case for buying a vehicle with good resale instead of leasing.

And to answer your original question on contacts - Chad is a sponsor here and a Chevy dealer. Don't think he's too far from the tine and could probably get you a good deal on a traversty.

Yea...... no

Thank you for the reference I will reach out and see what info he could give me. I'm trying to get some comparisons on actual cars so I can look at the economics....because while I appreciate the example above that isn't very helpful when looking to compare third row SUV's many of which don't have a determined resale value...now if the comparison was between the Resale of a 2019 Traverse, a 2020 palisade and say a 2019 highlander and cost effectiveness of buy vs lease....

But I find it a little telling that everyone always uses the highest resale cars on the market to show the example and yet in the short run....leasing saves money. Personally I like the flexibility of a lower payment for the next 3 years while I still have daycare payments and size changing kids.

On the question about storage no it isn't really important, if we go somewhere where we need to carry more we take my truck. But it would be a nice perk to not have to flip the seats up and down if she buys lots of groceries or something.

Minivans. That's a joke. They're way overpriced in my opinion and I just don't need it. I don't need a full time third row seat and I don't need that much constant large storage area.

As far as the constant "you don't want answers just want support for your decision" people....I've said multiple times I'd like to hear knocks and facts on the current traverse. They went through a major redesign and upgrades in the 18 model but the only thing y'all have said is no, hell no, and absolutely not...but never why.

Also also said I had never seen or considered the palisade. I checked into it some today and was impressed and texted my wife we should add it to the list of considerations and try test driving it. I also mentioned the highlander to her but again I think it's the highest priced of those I'd consider so that's going to probably knock it out.

FYI - Chad is no longer with Covert. He is now with Caldwell Chevy in Rocksprings. I am working with him right now on a deal. The email above still goes to him, I have no idea on who the contact is at Covert. I sent them a PM and all I got back was Covert_Kelly. Don't know if that is a user name or an email.

If anyone has a Chevy contact closer to SA, I would love to have it.

The cell number for Chad is also still good.

Thanks

Good. Don't buy it. It is probably one of the 3 worst SUVs out there.

Horrible reliability is why. If you want to bank on a redesign, fine, but ask yourself: can you name any model of vehicle that was terrible, then redesigned and suddenly became good or great?

Its your money; buy whatever you want. But I can almost guarantee that in 2 years you'll regret it.

that would be the beauty of leasing atleast

I am planning to go test drive a palisade soon however. Hope is maybe be able to skim into a top level one for the same money as a mid level or most other options (except the telluride which is basically the same car but Kia and Ive sworn them off)

This board hates GM SUV's, the Traverse is fine. It's not as sporty as some of the other models people are talking about but the packaging and size is actually really good, they have a very usable third row and room behind it. The interior on the newer models is quite nice as well.
