A genie gives a choice of Three contemporary super cars or one hyper car. What do you choose and which car(s)?

For the sake of argument super cars are luxury cars of > $250,000, Hyper Cars are < $800,000.

For me, easy choice.

I dunno. It's like Marry, ****, Kill. It's never gonna happen anyway.

But it's a great point. When does a super car become a hyper car. I'd say at $1 million.

Thing is the Pagani Huayra begins around $800,000 so I don't know.

I screwed up in my initial response as all of mine were a little too pricey.

1. 991 GT2RS
2. 488
3. Mclaren 570GT

Since the 570 GT comes in under 250, I will use the surplus to get the GT2RS I would want...

I love sports cars, but I would never own either a super or hyper car because most of their value lies in not driving them. They are essentially art work, and I can't abide by having that kind of missed opportunity staring at me everyday.

So for me, I keep the budget at around 100k and get 7 cars that I can hoon the **** out of without feeling too bad about it. (doing my math of 3 x $250K to get my rough $700k budget)

  • Audi RS5 for daily driving and going to the grocery store
  • New mid-engine Corvette for old man weekend cruising
  • New GT500 for dragstrip days
  • Jeep Trackhawk for vacations and road trips
  • Dodge Viper for track days
  • Whatever the best Aston Martin I can get for under 100k for date nights with the wife when I want to look classy
  • And finally, either a Ferrari or Lamborghini, but one that has been driven so I'm not the one killing the value on it.

Old men just can't help it!

I'm turning into the same type of person the older I get (I'm only 34).

I've got a 10 year plan to buy a nice pontoon boat when my unborn child (hopefully children by then) are of an age to enjoy it. But I wonder if by then I'll even let myself spend money on something that drops in value so much.

Get a five to ten year old pontoon boat with a yamaha 4 stroke outboard. It'll run forever and the depreciation won't be nearly as bad as buying new.

I'd just keep myself in racecars for the rest of my life. AER, Lemons, Chump, Rally Cross, whatever. You could just keep buying racecars forever with that kind of money.
