Why only 1 LATCH anchor in middle seat?

I'm getting ready to install car seats in my 2019 Pilot and noticed in the 2nd row there's only 1 LATCH anchor for the middle seat located on the passenger side of the middle seat. How do I put a car seat there with just one anchor? Everything I've seen online says I can't share an anchor with the seat next to it so any ideas here? Thanks.

How many car seats are you trying to install? The setup allows you to put 1 car seat in the passenger side and a second in EITHER the center or passenger side, but not both using LATCH. If you have narrow enough car seats, you could maybe install one with the seatbelt instead of LATCH if you need to put 3 in the second row.

I'm trying to put one in the 2nd row driver's side and one in the second row middle to allow the 2nd row passenger side seat to move forward to let the older 3rd kid out of the 3rd row.

I looked at the car seat lady's site and she didn't really address the fact that there's only 1 middle seat LATCH anchor.

dig your hand in there a little farther and you will find it

and my youngest just outgrew a booster!

We had three in car seats at one point.

One car seat can use LATCH and the other will have to use a seatbelt (or you could use the seatbelt for both). Try each combo to see if one is better (LATCH center and seatbelt outboard, swap). Secure the middle seat first. The "no sharing" rule is saying you can't use one lower anchor for two seats at the same time, and that you can't borrow an adjacent if it wasn't designed for it (spacing could be off).

Install the seat in the middle using seat belt. The LATCH system is no more or less safe than using the seat belt. Just make sure you do it properly.

A single anchor has no function, they operate as a pair. Many cars only have LATCH on driver and passenger side. What you are finding is likely the left side anchor for the passenger seat.

If you aren't 100% certain it is installed properly, there are car seat checkup events and places you can have it inspected for safety. Most hospitals and many EMS agencies likely have someone in hand to check it out. I'm a CPST (Child Pass. Safety Tech) through my job in EMS. If you're near Fayette County, I'd be happy to meet up and check out / install car seats for you.

There are 5 anchors in the middle row. The passenger side has 2 for its own. The middle seat has one near the passenger side, but has to borrow one from the driver side seat. Iif you do that, you can't use LATCH on the drivers side seat as you can't attach two seats to one anchor.

Thanks! I'm in Austin but I think I have a handle on what I need to do now.
