Is it possible to switch the cigarette type outlets with a conventional wall plug style?

Looking at an 18 F-150 XLT, but noticed all the power ports are cigarette lighter style. Which is stupid.

Is there an aftermarket replacement available for this?

Sure if you can fit the AC inverter needed to convert 12VDC to 120VAC somewhere.

Quick answer: Yes

Long answer: it takes a bit of wiring, installing the components, and enabling everything through forscan.

No so long answer: buy an aftermarket inverter

This.

Buy a small aftermarket inverter that plugs into the cig lighter. 300w should be plenty for most folks.

If you need a big one like 1000W you can hardwire them to the battery. Progressive insurance used to do this so they could write your estimate and cut you a check on site.

The OE inverter has a box under the back seat. Car electrical is 12V DC. Your home electrical is 120V AC. Not so simple.

Or switch cig plug to a USB plug.

What are bringing along for the ride - a coffee pot or something??

We typically are bringing along a laptop, sometimes two, for the kid (and wife).

Sounds like a giant PITA though, will just stick with the aftermarket inverter.

Thanks.
