How long do you want to ignore this user?

The audi forums are useless - none of these people seem to do their own work. Have a 2003 Audi A4 Quattro with the 3.0L (manual trans.) with about 150 K miles on it.

When I go to accelerate - in most any gear it jerks when accelerating, especially at low speeds. Is there any malfunctioning sensor that may cause this? I went to o reilly's today and autozone to get the code read but they were BACKED up... so going to try again tomorrow. I suspect that the light is on from a O2 sensor that I haven't replaced yet as when I checked last...but kind of hoping there may be two codes to tell me what this other issue is.
Huh? Which forum are you on? Audizine is full of people that do their own work. Especially on the B6 forum.

I have an 03 as well, but 1.8T. I have practically no experience with the 3.0 so I don't know that I can help a lot. But you'll need to be more specific I think. What do you mean by herky jerky? The engine response?

A hesitation or a jerk?

VW Vortex would probably also be a good one to look at.

need to get the code read

150k miles on a B6... you must have a pretty extensive maintenance list

What has been done recently to it for maintenance? plugs, coil packs, vacuum lines, timing belt, cam sensors, fuel filter and/or pump?

casual google search led me to this discussion with some good spots to look

Get on the highway, put it in 6th at about 60MPH and floor the gas. If it the engine seems to run fine, but the car jerks as you describe, it is most likely the clutch. And it's a bear to replace on B6 AWD.

The more you drive it like the the more damage you are doing to the flywheel. When I had this problem, two shops I talked with said "we can likely resurface the flywheel, but if you keep driving it those odds get much worse". IIRC it was $500 for the flywheel alone. I think parts/labor quotes I got were $1500-$2000 for clutch/flywheel replacement.

Audizine has a tutorial for doing the clutch and it's a 2-person all weekend job. If you have a lift, it gets a little easier, but getting some of the bolts off the ******/engine are a PITA

Unless you now the clutch has been done previously, 150k is a pretty long life for a clutch on a car I'm sure has not been babied it's whole life (no offense, we all like to drive fast or we wouldn't post here).

I think I can get on it from here - should have started with the code read - will follow up if replacing a few of these parts does the trick for others in the future.

Timing chain or belt on that engine? If you have a belt and it skipped a notch it might cause similar issues. More likely you have a ground or short somewhere in the CPS sensor wiring back to the PCM/ECU that gives bad data, as the CPS data should be very straightforward signalling.

Last time you replaced plugs? Check coil and wires. (Not sure about the specifics of Audi re: cap on coil, etc.) Sounds like it could be a misfire. Always best to start with the easy things.

We were getting a cam/crank sensor error on our Tundra and it turned out a rat chewed the wires. Agmechanic figured it out when he replaced our timing belt.

Our '10 VW CC behaved like that and it turned out to be a coil. I was getting repeat misfire codes though.
