This is my wife's car, so I seldom drive it, but the brakes have become less responsive, and require more foot pressure to get them to respond properly. The fluid was at the minimum level, so I've just topped it off. I checked for codes, and there are none. Google reveals very little. Ideas?

How many miles? Have the pads ever been changed?

Have you had 13N02 performed?

Nope

That's likely the culprit! Thanks!

My wife's 2012 felt like someone had cut my break lines when I was pulling it into the garage one night. Thought for sure it wasn't going to stop.....

Turns out there was a booster recall

FYI I had the warranty repair done on my Edge and I still have issues after I brake hard. Posted about it a few times.

Shampoo the pads.

Hard peddle equals vacuum, ie booster
Soft peddle equals hydraulics ie anything with brake fluid.
Air compresses, fluid does not, spongy breaks come from rubber flexing, air trapped in system, leaks, bypassing master cylinder sometimes abs issues will show as spongy or soft.
At 66k I would expect a front brake job on most vehicles. This does depend totally on driving habits in city, highway, keeping foot on brake etc...

Good reply, thanks!
I've "taught" my wife not to "ride" the brakes, etc. She's pretty good about it. Brakes are good fer another 200k, at least! IOW, it'll be the "next fellas" problem.

Just remembered to follow up on this post to say we got the brake booster replaced last week under warranty. Thanks again for the heads up!
