Does anyone have a recommendation for someone to do a pre-purchase inspection on a '68 Corvette in Houston (Spring, I believe)? I am also trying to find a good company to transport it from Houston to Midland if we purchase it but I have already put up an auction on U-Ship.

My experience with them this week wasn't all that great. Tech couldn't speak in-depth to what he saw/found immediately after the exam, and couldn't remember if he checked out the skid plates & undercarriage the next day (about 24 hours later).

I was expecting more than a cursory review for their $160 inspection.

We actually ended up going with Texas First Auto Inspections and we were pleased with them. They seemed thorough and were very responsive. They actually found a few things that kept us from buying.

I found someone to do a pre-purchase inspection on a truck I found in Phoenix. Any other tips for buying a car from afar? I imagined I would negotiate the price and then fly out and drive it back to Houston as opposed to shipping.

Thats disappointing.

Maybe I need to add this to my list of things to do....

I'd pay you $160 for a thorough inspection in a heartbeat.

Called their office to provide constructive feedback for their future customers (was not rude & clearly stated I wasn't asking for a refund). The manager's response was less than stellar.

Just to follow-up on this, we ended up using lemonsquad.com to inspect 4 or 5 different cars that were out of state. They did a good job for us and we ended up purchasing one last week and it made it home this weekend.

'66 triple black with hard and soft top that we found just outside of Chicago.
