I've got my eye on the 2018 Silverado LTZ right now and appears they are offering pretty good deals. It MSRP's at $50K and some are offering rebates/incentives down to $37K or $38K right now. I've not bought a car in 8 years and my last purchase was used, and so I'm not sure much additional negotiating room I can expect with those types of rebates. Any advice? Thanks.

Nothing to add other than to make sure you're aware the 2019's are completely redesigned. Which means you're probably making a good financial choice and getting a good deal. I almost inked a deal a few months back and saw the 2019 reveal and decided to wait. Which means the dealership will get to bend me over ">

I did see that and it factored into my thinking, thanks.

Avoid the 8 spd transmission. Known issue with the TC and no real factory solution other than steps to replace it with the same part (just did this on my 2016).

The 2018 comes with a color option in what Chevy calls "centennial blue." It looks really sharp, and centennial badges come with it.

But getting a truck that's ugly AF. I'd hold out for the '19

Doesn't it stand to reason that the 2019's will be a lot more expensive than the current 2018's deals though?

Yes. You should be able to get huge discounts in a few months on 2018 Silverados. The 2019's will have little offered off of MSRP.

OP, where are you finding the best deals? What dealers are you looking at?

This x100. Got the 8spd in my 2017 and it's reason enough to trade the truck in. Just an absolute piece of sht.

I've been researching this issue over the weekend and although the 8 speed transmission issues aren't occurring in the majority, there are still far too many instances in the 2016 and 2017 models to feel comfortable. I've not been able to find anything online showing that GM has fixed the issue in the 2018 models - does anyone know?

I have the 2017 Silverado LTZ 4x4 and it's the best truck I have owned. I have owned a Tundra as well. I liked the Tundra but hated the gas mileage. It kills me Toyota can't do better.

Put holder deposit down on a 2018 Silverado custom crew cab 5.3 on Saturday. Hopefully getting it finalized tomorrow.

Anybody interested in an 02 Silverado 1500 extended cab 5.3 with 264,000 miles. New 34" BFG off-road tires and black wheels, Flow master 40 series dual exhaust, 2.5" spacer lift in front 1.5" blocks in rear. Also 2 10" kicker subwoofers with custom made box under backseat and new amp if you want them, or else I'll keep them. Aftermarket halo headlights with 8K HID bulbs and taillights.

As the originator of this thread, I'm back now to report I ended up buying a 2018 Sierra SLT crew cab for $38K, w/ MSRP of $50K. I've had it four days so far, but love it.

How are you enjoying the truck? I may try to jump on an end of year deal.

For those interested in Chevy, check out Carter Chevrolet in Okarche, OK. Tiny place with decent selection. I purchased a Silverado there because lowest price I could find. When I was there, there were folks from Texas and Alabama buying. Their advertised price online is the price they sell the vehicle for, so only wiggle room would be on a trade value. I prefer it that way. Good people there.

Good prices. Pretty much the exact truck I got is $1000 cheaper there...assuming I would have got the same for my trade and not had to drive 2400 miles round trip.

Those are good prices. About $1000 cheaper than I paid for the same truck. Assuming I would have got the same for my trade and not had to drive 2400 miles.

I bought a 2006 when they redesigned them. I will never buy a vehicle that is year one of a new redesign again. Just a word of caution on the 2019. Annoying things mostly, but I guess I am actually at 246k miles so I may not have a leg to stand on.
