From reading the f150 forums, it seems that the fuel filter on the 2010 is located in the fuel tank and is supposed to be a lifetime filter.
Can anyone confirm or deny?

Also, is it an simple DIY to replace? Or does it involve a tank drop?

My truck has had trouble firing the past couple weeks and I was planning on eliminating this before I take it in.
I've been lazy with car maintenance in that I just take it in to the shop since I've gotten out of school. Trying to get more handy and save money as well. Thanks and here's a pic for your troubles.

Most of the fuel filters by now were deleted and just use the sock/strainer in the tank, Its not a service item.

Run a can of BG44K and clean the throttle body and keep on truckin.

I wouldn't start at the filter. Have you changed plugs and wires ever?

Might be a good idea to clean the MAF sensor too.

So do any new vehicles have replaceable fuel filters? Are the in-tank filters really good for a lifetime?

realistically probably no. but most people won't keep a car long enough to matter. plus at some point in older age the pump is likely to die so when that happens you get a new filter

Good point. I guess having a truck with over 200K on these days is pretty rare. My 2007 Tundra is at 172K and I've had it since 2009.

Many manufacturers started deleting them.

GM started with the GMT800 refresh trucks because they realized people were not replacing them and when they'd clog, it would burn the pump up. So they just deleted it and used the in tank 'sock'.

Ford followed suit after.

Diesels still have them. Some manufacturers still offer them.

Hyundai actually recommended replacing the tank strainer in the Genesis sedan at 30K, but later made a TSB saying that it was a misprint and that the strainer was a non servicable item alone.
