I am going with Year of Manufacture plates for my project. The set I have are pretty decent but I would like to clean them up, since they are pretty yellowed.

All of the write ups I have seen on line just use normal white paint. I'd like to keep them reflective.

can you buy reflective white paint? or is it an additive like pearls or flakes that you have to mix in before you spray?

Ideally, I like to just find a quality rattle can of reflective white.

IIRC a reflective clearcoat would be the best way...

I know you can (or could) get reflective white paint to paint curbs, but I don't know if that would be the quality you're looking for. Hopefully someone has better info for you.

You can mix some very fine (200+mesh) glass bead into your paint before applying it to the plate. The beads are what is normally used on roads etc.

Assuming you're talking 1970 and newer Texas plates, I'd use a reflective clearcoat. That's what ends up yellowing and flaking off. It took them until the late '70s to find something that held.

No advice on the right shade of blue or green to use, I haven't done any of those years.

I looked into that and the reviews were pretty terrible. Of course I am not sure if that is due to user error or if the product sucks.

I was hoping there would be a SEM, Montana cans or equivalent out there.

If that doesn't do it, looks like the beads are cheap on Amazon.
