Should be picking up a new 2016 F150 SuperCrew Lariat FX4 later this week. (Another TexAgs hookup thx 1agswitchin4lanes). Got the 5-1/2 foot box.

Need a cover for it Pretty much settled on the BakFlip G2. Looking online, the G2 runs around $800 +/-.

Anyone have a recommendation on where to buy the G2 to get a better price?
Online or Houston area.
Or where NOT to buy it if you had issues?

I don't need the install can handle it myself.

I would search some F150 forums. I bought one for our Tundra from a seller on a Tundra forum. I want to say I paid around $600 and other online dealers were much higher.

I love the G2.

I am somewhat looking for a cover for my Tundra. I like the G2 but am kind of leaning towards the MX4 as you can close the tailgate without having to open the cover (along with a few other features). It's still rather new though and not enough reviews of it are out yet.

And as for price, I think online will be your best bet. On TundraTalk there is a guy who sells them for Svcustoms.com that has people message him and he gives them a quote that beats most listed prices.

If you want to get them real cheap, Bakflip makes the same exact cover, but re branded as Gator Covers. I was looking a few months back and they sell them wholesale for a cheaper price. Same exact product and warranty just different branding.

Edit: If you call I'm pretty sure they beat their online price pretty siginificantly. I bought one for my 07 Sierra for 500-600 IIRC..

A couple years ago I got the F1 for $800 from Truckchamp.com. I negotiated that price.

I've got the g2 on my '11 f150 and don't have to open the last section to close the tailgate.

Just a heads up, looks like Backflip made some changes to the G2 and now has the MX4 as the newest model, if that matters to you.

+1 for Luke. The F1 only costs $775 through him.

I paid $660 a year ago for the BAK Fibermax through Truck Champ after negotiationg via online chat for my 2014 F-150. It wound up leaking worse than a sieve and after 2 replacements I opted for a full refund.

Hope it helps you with the price point though.

Got a TonnoPro hardfolder with the vinyl cover. Doesn't leak and very easy to remove if you need to for some reason. It sits up on top of the bed rails, so is not a super low profile. Got it for just under 5.

I love my G2. The aluminum sheet with foam core, folding panels, and edge seals gives the best combo of adaptability, toughness, and weatherproofing imo.

Regarding closing tailgate or back panel first on the G2, there is a tab on the panel that fits into a bolted on slot piece on the tailgate. This lets you lock the tailgate by locking the cover.

If you shut the tailgate while the cover is closed, it will bend back the tab on the cover panel. Now the tab will not fit into the slot, and the tailgate can be opened and closed with the cover shut. Lockong the cover will not lock the tailgate.

If you wanted, you could unbolt the tab and slot pueces from the cover panel and tailgate.

Emailed Luke in the provided link. Talked to him this morning and ended up ordering the BakFlip MX4 over the G2. He was helpful explaining the differences between the two models. Priced well under list delivered. Hope it gets here by the weekend.....

Wow... I ordered the BakFlip MX4 on TUESDAY morning around 9:30 am.
It was delivered (Cypress, TX) this afternoon (WEDNESDAY) around 3:30 pm. ....
Seriously. It arrived in one day.

Got a chance after dinner - had it installed in less than an hour. Spent some time making sure everything is good and square. It's a very nice cover. Glad I went with the MX4.

I'm working on some pics of the truck to share with y'all... Don't have a photobucket account...
