Just got my truck back last night, got the drivers side lock busted on my f350. Nothing in there to steal so doesn't look like anything missing.

What's the best door lock to replace it with too help keep from happening again. Since there have been several vehicles broken into and one stolen from our office building.

A lot of people like the Jimmy Jammer.

Replace the drivers door handle with a driver's side back door handle. Then there's no lock to punch out. If they want it that bad they'd have to break a window.

Think about it, how many times have you used your key?

Until the battery in the vehicle or key fob dies...

sorry; hate thieves! i'm adding a kill switch to any vehicles i care about.

thats the one I always wondered, is there a way to get back in, even if it takes a while if the battery is dead, without damaging the truck

I have done this, I installed a set of jumpers that are in place on a battery, hangs down behind bumper. Can jump to unlock.

I wonder if i could do the same thing through the trailer plug since the amperage draw is very small. If not might have go through my winch wiring.

If you put a plug type fitting on your winch power wires, you could put a similar setup on one end of the jumper cables so all you'd have to do is unplug the winch & plug in the jumper cables.

Every time I unlock it. Remote Keyless Entry is not standard equipment on everything.

I thought about getting a rear door handle, but didn't want to lose my keypad.

Not on the F250 though.

Also. The mustang's mechanical unlock is hidden and quite complicated.

AAA or ford roadside assistance to get you inside in case of a dead battery. TSWs suggestion is also good. You can also connect to the starter lug if you know what you're doing.

I've jumped my BMW through the license plate lights a few times. Gives just enough juice to pop the locks without frying anything.

Well screw it. To slow them down filled the lock and little hole with JB weld tonight. Might help a little

If it's already been popped and the door still locks with the remote or keypad, just leave it. It's going to happen again. Super Duties are notorious for being broken into. The interior locking mechanism is plastic (thanks Ford)

I looked at getting mine replaced, ~$500 to be painted, no door damage other than the lock. Not worth the cash.

Jimmy Jammers also sells a punch plug.

That's the long term plan. Just need to get them

I had mine punched but I just let insurance put the factory lock back in. I decided that if I made it difficult, then I would jist have a lot more **** damaged before they got in. Jimmy jammer are great and all but they'll just jam a screwdriver behind the plate and **** up your door. When that fails, they'll try the same somewhere else and then they'll just smash the window. Honestly, the best lock is no lock. They will get in if they decided they want tom. No two ways about it.


I had my f150 passenger lock popped when it was new and just realized what it was a year ago. It literally took 10 years to notice. Lol..

This is why I rarely lock my truck.

Last time I was broken into the ****ers tried to pry the pop out window on the suicide doors, they tried jimmying the lock, they tried prying the rear split, they tried forcing the front door, then they finally broke out the rear pop out window. Which of course was the most expensive window on the ****ing truck.

If the hooker wasn't stiffed I think you're doing something wrong.

I have a passenger rear handle on my driver side with Jimmi Jammers in all 4 doors.

If the battery dies...AAA it is.
