I've never sold a car private party but have perused online and have found that I need the following info:


Is that the full list?

Also, I remove the license plates, correct? Who gives them paper/temp plates?

You remove your plates. They can apply for an in transit tag on their own. That's their problem.

Vtr form as well, remove your toll tags.

The government run website has info as well: http://www.txdmv.gov/motorists/buying-or-selling-a-vehicle

You can complete a form online when you sell it to say you have transferred the title.

I have done just the generic bill of sale and signed the back of the title. The two cars I have sold have were high mileage and thus exempt for the odometer disclosure.

Beyond those forms its up the to buyer to pay the tax, title, registration, and inspection.

Take your plates, and also get your toll tag!
