Little accident over the weekend (my fault).
Trying to avoid filing a claim as my wife has had two in the last year. The bumper I'm not really worried about (found one for pretty cheap).
The dent on the body panel doesn't appear creased, do you think I could get a guy to pull it out? Obviously I will have to get it painted, is a body shop gonna charge me an arm and a leg?
Excluding the bumper, are we looking at over a $1K in damage?

Run it by Chris Loftin at Loftin Body and Paint in Cedar Park.

Not sure of labor rates in Austin, but at least 4-5 hours on the dent, partial refinish on bedside, full clear on bedside, remove and install tail lamp and anything else tool box, decals etc. Probably 8-12 hours total.

That is before paint and materials.

That said it is white, so it is much easier to repair unless it is pearl.

I would not be surprised if it was from $600-$1100.

Depends on what you want, and can be happy with. Some shops will fix it "enough" that most will never know and some will lay down paint that is awesome.

Let the shop know you are paying out of pocket and want it to be good, not perfect. I have not written estimates on cars in a while, but there are likely some on here that may be closer than I can get.

Thanks both for your advice.

I plan to have this truck for quite some time and it already gets pretty beat up out at the deer lease and hauling stuff around so I can live without a perfect repair job. I am worried a body shop will want to do a panel replacement which I am sure pushes me closer to $2K.

What I was hoping was that I could get a PDR guy to pull the dent as best he could, I'd do the bumper myself, and then just have a shop do the paint since I need some touchups in a few other spots. Maybe wishful thinking.

Some may want to replace the side, but based off those photos I would not think it is needed. Ask around with friends, work and here there is usually someone who can do this at home or on the side and keep it at the lower end price wise. Also check out any local tech schools or high schools that offer auto body classes. If you have another vehicle to drive those may not be fast, but they can be affordable.

Go see Chris and explain it like you did here. He will only do the work you want done.

Thanks Dave. Sent the pics out to a couple shops to see what they think.

One place quoted me $1600 including the bumper for a repair not a replacement...Not too surprised by that but I'll keep looking around.

Yep I plan to hit him up since his shop isn't too far from my work. Thanks again!

Drill, pull, fill and paint will cost a G or so.
