LS engines = ticking

Unless it's extremely bad, and indicative of a bigger problem (like it's coming from the bottom end) then I wouldn't even worry about it.

Yep, they all tick. My old 2000 Silverado ticked on the lot when it was new and ticked at 175K when I sold it. My current 2000 LS1 in my Camaro ticks and it's got 70K on it.

I would be more worried if it wasn't ticking actually!

My old 5.3 would tick, too. It lessened when I switched to Pennzoil Platinum. but it was still detectable.

my 2001 5.3L has 178 and ticks when its warming up. goes away after it heats up though.

You need a BTR cam, hardened pushrods, and some double valve springs.

Basically take out all of the Chevy parts

How many miles and what brand and weight oil are you running ?

I've had decent luck with this on stuck/noisy lifters in higher mileage engines

A tick or a knock?

Do you know the difference?

Turn up the radio and drive it. Seriously. The best advice is to get over it or sell it to me for $400

Time for an LS7 or LS9 swap?

I bought some of that Rislone but I'm hesitant to dump it in the crank case with the ATF in there.

Good to know you've had good results with Rislone though.
how many miles are you planning on running the ATF in there? i have heard of people doing this, but it always seemed like a bad idea....

Probably about 1K or so...or, until the lifter tick goes away...whichever comes first.

Supposedly the ATF is nothing more than a 10W-20 oil with added detergents. At least that's what I was told.

I'm not saying your wrong, but I don't think this is correct. Atf is a hydraulic fluid. Right?

Has the ATF helped?
