I'd say it's quite a stretch to expect that to be covered. If you had a wreck within the first 10 miles, I don't think that would be covered under warranty either
I've got a similar story for you though. I've been buying Ram company vehicles for the last few months. A couple of months ago I picked one and got on I-20 right in front of the dealership, before I was up to traffic speed, (probably less than 1/4 mile) I got a rock chip in the windshield. The guys that drive these trucks always have the windshields cracked all to hell, so I didn't feel too bad. It didn't even cross my mind to ask the dealership to replace the windshield.
That definitely makes the most sense, I was just browsing some car forums and saw that a lot of people said it was covered under their basic warranties and thought I'd check over here. Some of them said their insurance companies covered it with no deductible.
The part that pisses me off is that I've now got a 12-14" crack that almost obstructs my view (and will in due time), from a tiny pebble that I could barely hear, which you would think would just chip the windshield at most. I have never had that happen in almost 20 yrs of driving. Are windshields just much crappier than they used to be or have I just been insanely lucky this whole time?
