Can anyone help me find the owner of this VIN: PS23L76238273. I may want to make an unsolicited offer. Last I heard it had been sold to a man in Richmond Virginia. Please PM contact info or post how to look up a vehicle by VIN.

I'm always interested in the back story - if you don't mind sharing.

Good luck in your search.

My dad had a couple noteworthy cars in his youth, a 58 Fury (like in Christine) and a'67 Sport Fury like the pics above. I've only ever seen pictures of the 58 and couldn't understand why he never had as much fondness for the classic 58 body style the way he loved that '67.

By the early 80s the Sport Fury was old and tired. We parked it for too long in an outdoor lot and it deteriorated pretty badly. It was our dream to rebuild it and we even went so far as to buy a parts car without letting my mother know about it. Not a smart move. Money was tight back then and when mom found out she made my dad sell both of them.

My dad died almost 15 years ago and I've been looking for his exact build sheet for the past 8 years. I get google alerts every time someone even so much as pins a new sport fury on Pinterest so I've gotten to know this market pretty well. I've sent mechanics and appraisers around the country to check out almost every red sport fury with a vinyl top, floor shift, console, and bucket seats.

But they also all had something wrong with them. The first one I found before I realized how rare they were was located in Chicago and had a white interior instead of black. I won two eBay auctions for it but never met the reserve price and couldn't reach a deal post auction. Another one in Upstate New York was nice but had a split bench and a column shift and a little rust rot. The one in California had a full restoration and was a best in class show winner but didn't have the sport top. Another one currently for sale is a basket case with HUGE door gaps that scare me. The one in the pics above has 100% of my must have options and even has a factory 440 but it is painted 'viper' red and was the most expensive of the bunch. The timing wasn't good and I didn't want to pay top dollar and then have to respray the correct color red over that new paint.

Sunday night another one hit the market. It's a true garage find that has been parked for over 30 years and is incredibly complete. It needs immediate paint and body work and new carpet but the rust is minimal and all the parts are there. It really deserves a complete restoration. The guy is asking WAY too much for it and I don't have time to start a restoration for a few years, nor do I have no place to put a 17'9" long vehicle at the moment (despite the 4 car garage) so it would have to be a steal to justify the storage costs.

Which brings me back to the one that got away in the pics above. It sold a couple years ago and is already a great cruiser and I don't really want to wait years on a full restoration before I can drive it like our board's favorite Chevelle. I would be willing to over pay for a great drivetrain and clean paint and interior. I saved the VIN and a few pics of the car above and would rather see if it could be pryed away from the current owner before I waste anymore time talking myself into a new project.

Others have seen garish restomods or turned into low riders with electric purple paint.

I saved pics of most of these cars and will post them this weekend if I can find them and have the time.

I found it in Magnolia, TX after a couple ownership swaps. It's been sitting outside for most of the past 3 years and was a little bit of a disappoint. Many more rust bubbles showing under the paint, cracked dash, console, and steering wheel, pitted chrome. NO FREAKING RADIATOR?!?!?! It has a 440 which is really nice but the owner overpaid for it and isn't yet willing to take a bath on it.

It's not a huge mess but what was a great Friday night cruiser and fair weather daily driver now needs some work before it will even run. Amazing how fast these things can go south.

I live in Magnolia and there are tons of cars sitting behind barns and in barns wasting away, so much so it's almost sickening. Then there are those they enjoy and drive what they have, or appreciate it enough to keep it up (Mr. Gullo for example). Hope you find one to your specs soon!

I have a 1967 Fury Sport. Mine is a two door hard top vs the fast top you have pictured. I ended up finding it in Roswell, New Mexico about a year ago via a Craigslist ad. Have since bought a 67 Fury 4 door to use as a parts car. They're hard to find in good condition, mine runs but has enough to fix/replace to keep me busy for a long while. Check on forcbodiesonly, it's a good site to look at different offerings for sale around the nation. Keep up the search, the one you're looking for is out there!

If you have any questions, let me know.
