EDIT THREAD TITLE: 2012 Tundra

I see bilstein 5100 has been the approved Texags leveling kit.

Where should I go to get this done (live in Conroe). My Tundra already appears to have a 2" lift (2" block on the rear spring). Knowing that, anything special need to be done for the leveling?

I would be surprised if your truck isn't already "leveled". Do you just want to replace the front spacer with the more expensive 5100s?

Semi-related sidenote:

Are these the same Tundras?

Additional side note. You like your '14? I'm pretty close to pulling the trigger if I find the right deal.

Let me preface with there is a lot I don't know in the truck world...

I am going bigger tires, possibly 285/65r20 from my current 275/55r20 and the guy at DiscountTire said I'd need to level my truck to get those in the front. Looking at my truck it doesn't seem "level".

I did lose faith in the discount guy when he said there aren't AT 285/65r20's (only mud tires) and then I go on discount's site and see them.

Damnit!! Sorry, mine's a 2012..I fat fingered my thread title.

Post a picture of your front shocks. If your truck weren't "leveled" and you had 2" blocks in the rear and an otherwise factory suspension, you'd have about 3.5" of rake.

What's wrong with spacers?

BTW guys at Texas Trucks Works in Montgomery quoted me $650 to level my truck. That seems really high from what I've read.

In my limited experience, spacers cause a rougher ride. I'd recommend removing the spacer and replacing with the Bilsteins.

Good news is your truck is already lifted/leveled. If you're just trying to get rid of the raked look, I'd go with a smaller or no block in the rear, especially if you don't find the ride overly harsh with the front spacers.

And there's not much wrong with a short spacer like that, everyone just poo-poos them because they're an inexpensive option in a sea of more expensive ones.

Just be careful you don't BRAHify it by giving it the tilted back like there's 2 tons of sandbags in the truck bed look that idiotically seems to be popular. It is almost an unintentional self parody of lifts.

Find a new tire guy. And go to tundratalk.net for a boatload of pics of guys running that tire size.

On spacers, they suck. Have a '14 with a 3/1 kit on it and I'm about to rip it off.

Seems a little high. I had my truck leveled, aligned, and had 285/65/18 Nittos installed all for $1350 at Maxxed Performance in Baytown.

New tires, BFG KO2 285/65/20..no leveling kit needed yet.

No rubbing on those?

Slight rub at hard turns. If I go slow then it doesn't really. Will need to level to get rid of that.

Hitting the skid plate? I know I had 295's on my stock wheels for a little while on my '14 and it rubbed bad on the skid plate.

Could be the skid plate. In park it doesn't touch anything so hard to see exactly where. I'll get under and see what is closest to touching.

Yes it's your skid plate, I got BFGs and they rubbed as well. But I got a fix off tundrasolutions that took an hour.

go to parking lot. slowly turn until it starts rubbing then park without straightening. grab a rock and scratch where it is rubbing on both sides. go home and take off your skid plate (5 bolts 3 screws). clamp a peice of wood on either side of the plate and bash that puppy back 1.5 inches. its very easy and you can easily make it look straight. replace skid plate. no more rub.

Also, I put on 5100s. top setting ruined a pair of tires because the upper control arms would allow the correct camber. middle setting is great and it's leveled. (not 4x4).

Good idea! I might just instead use my grinder with metal cutting disc to cut away the rubbing part and then hammer smooth.

It's the two flaps on the side that you're rubbing against. Look under and you'll see what in talking about
