Regarding the lifetime powertrain warranty offered in 2009, how often has this happened historically? Any other manufacturers who have done this?

Other than requiring periodic inspectons, not sure whats happened with this.

I dont think they were transferrable either.

I meant, in the history of automobiles, has a manufacturer ever offered a lifetime powertrain warranty? Or was this the first? Will it ever come again?

They aren't transferable. I believe they are still available as well. One of the guys who works for me bought a new 13 Ram 1500 tricked out with a lift and whatnot. He said they gave him a lifetime powertrain warranty.

I don't think it can apply to diesel or commercial vehicles though.

Diesel, SRT and commercially used vehicles are not eligible.

This is also an at cost deal not 'free'

So if your friend got it for 'free' it was rolled into the price or they were really desperate to move it off the lot before it spontaneously combusted.

Probably. It's this lifted Ram 1500 with a bunch of ****tyBuilt crap all over it. He seems to regret selling his diesel for it.

I bought a brand new 2014 charger R/T back in april and got quite a deal it seems.

I have the full bumper to bumper warranty for the life of the car. Paying $10 a month for it during the life of the loan(5 years).
