Just wondering if anyone on here has done any research or had any experience with this vehicle. Seems interesting.

I believe it's an impreza hatchback with more clearance and larger wheels. I assume slightly different suspension. Was looking at it for a potential car for my daughter. I like it a lot.

It's a subi. Can't go wrong.

Yeah, if you like the looks, it will be a solid and very practical ride. Subarus are spartan, but pretty fantastic. I don't know if I would want a CVT though...

I think they look pretty cool. I would consider one if that was the type of vehicle I wanted.

Basically a lifted Impreza. The CVT is meh.

CVT would be annoying. does it come in a manual?

Never mind. It had the crappy under powered NA 4. If it was a wrx raised, then you'd be talking about something.

Parked next to one in the GTI last evening. Holy crap, no wonder it's slow...it's HUGE (especially compared to Der Krautmobile). Way too big for an anemic 4 banger. You need to turbo it, or go bigger displacement/more cylinders.

Wow, my Xterra has a whopping 175HP and does zero to 60 in a yawn. Does everyone here really drive that aggressively on a day to day basis?

Ah, that explains it. I'm pretty mellow and defensive. For me, it's about getting there. Just sometimes, there is the middle of nowhere.

I openly admit to treating every stoplight I'm at like a track's "christmas tree".

You don't go through 40K mile tires in a year, and only 15k, by driving like a blue-hair!

Thanks for all the feedback. I am in the market for a compact suv, and had already looked into the Rav4, CX5, and Forester. I had never heard of this vehicle until that day. Personally, I think it looks much more off-road/rough terrain capable than the others listed.
The lack of speed wouldn't bother me, but if it doesn't have enough power to actually go up steep inclines and such, that could be a problem. The guy at the dealership told me it lacked power as well, but I have driven a low end Forester, and it only has 155hp. That felt like more than enough power for that vehicle to me.

Forester is about 175HP, non-turbo, FWIW. The 4 banger subarus all use the same boxer engine, just some of them have turbos on them.

Some have a 4-banger 2.5, my Impreza has the 2.0, so does the XV. I'm assuming the Forester uses the 2.5.

Also, though the CVT sucks the life out of the motor, I get 28 mixed driving without trying. So I'm happy.

I keep forgetting about that 2.0

Yeah, the forester is still the 2.5 or 2.5T

Drove it. Hated it. But hate the way the outback drives as well. Stiff, bumpy, huge reving.

What year imprezas have a NA 2.0? When I see engine selections for my 04 it's either 2.5 NA, 2.0 turbo (Rex) or 2.5 turbo (sti).

I think the cross trek are ok for their price but very low end. If I were looking for a small SUV I'd go with the Outback.
