Drained and refilled power steering fluid in the 350Z. Was messier than expected but not too bad.

I think I might have finally pinpointed the source of the front end clunking and popping over the last several months. The popping had recently gotten worse, so I got under there and looked around once again. Turns out three of the eight fasteners in the front subframe crossmember were looser than the FSM torque spec, including the two biggest ones. One of the smaller bolts was barely holding on. The threaded hole in the unibody is pretty well stripped out so looks like I'll be picking up a tap/die set. Keeping my fingers crossed this solves the noise problem.

Madd Ag, what shat are your struts in? If they are worn out, they'll clunk over bumps. Also if the bumpers on the struts are whooped, those can cause a clunk.

We did nothing this weekend, I hurt my back again and spent the whole weekend on the sofa...

Lady friend got in wreck Friday evening, go to look at it to see if it's something I could take care of Saturday and turns out her dad wants the work to be done by the dealer, Later she pulls up to my house and says CEL came on and I can just smell the overheated engine.

Work on it for a few hours trying to figure it out and don't see the issue then she says she has AAA...well we followed the tow truck to her parents house, slept there, went to Splashtown today, and now have a nice burn on my upper back.

The struts are part of a brand-new coilover kit (been on the car 2 weeks). The front shock mounts were replaced with brand new OEM ones when I got the coilovers. The same noises persisted. I've also replaced all the bushings in the front suspension other than the ones in the upper A-arms, and those will be getting replaced pretty soon too when I get some adjustable arms.

Have also ruled out the steering rack bushings and tie-rods. Have upgraded to urethane sway bar bushings; the front sway previously was loose but not anymore.

I did go for a quick drive after tightening those subframe fasteners tonight, and it was really encouraging. But I won't say for sure that it's "fixed" until I get that last bolt back on and can hit some bumpier roads.

Did you lube the poly bushings on your stabilizer bars? They can bind up and cause a popping.

One of my polyurethane spacers for my lift in the rear completely disintegrated. The shop warranted the parts and labor even though it's been 5 years and 100K miles.

The only automotive thing was to finish shelves in my garage (on one side).

This weekend will be replacing timing chain, tensioners, front gaskets and water pump gaskets (leaking). And potentially the oil pan gasket on the explorer.

I used all the plywood that was lying around in the garage. It was about 8 sheets so I'm glad to have that space back. Detailed the interior of the Celica, and now I'm waiting to get new tires. I also broke a tie rod end on the lawn mower so that'll need a little attention soon.

Installed T5 transmission into the 68. Next is cut shifter hole, then start messing with driveshaft and pedals and cable clutch system.

Looked at a 94 Mustang GT with my cousin and brother to see if we could turn it into a Lemons race car by September.

6tee8, do you have any need for 90k mile 302 hydraulic lifters? OEM from my 95 Cobra.

Not much this weekend, just finished up the steering rack install in the Cobra, bled the air and did a DIY toe adjustment to at least get it driveable until I can get an alignment. Sold a few parts. M5 is still in the body shop

My dad has a buddy in Tomball that does good work. Got the new tires on and hauled the 50 GMC to Tomball to get alignment done.

Started having issues with the starter. Determined that the starter itself had a short internally.

Had planned to charge the AC system but the starter issues delayed that.

While I was at dad's house I polished lots of parts.

Spent the weekend driving and instructing with The Drivers Edge at TWS. It was a little warm, but we had a nice breeze. Had a lot of fun, as usual.

I had put some Wilwood brakes on the front of the Miata and larger rear OEM brakes, this was their first test. They worked great, very consistent feel the entire weekend.

No new personal bests, too hot for that to happen.

Played with the camera. 20 second exposure in pitch black darkness. Then I walked around behind the tripod w an LED lantern and lot the foreground for about 6-8 seconds. Wife thinks I'm crazy- but pic was good.

Sure don't, my 289 is pretty much staying like it is for a couple more years until I build a 331 for it. There is a chance of building up a 94 GT for the Lemons/misc racing. What else do you have?

Got the Tundra inspected.

Dude yanked really hard on the wipers to see if they were still good....of course one of them tore so he said I needed a new pair. Scam!

Chem Toilet, how you like the AVIC Z150? Are you using it with an iPhone 5 perhaps? Been looking at them and was wondering how it worked.
