Removing dirt, mud, etc. from exterior plastic trim

My Santa Fe has exterior plastic trim along the wheel wells, bottoms of the doors and around both bumpers. It is similar to the trim on an Explorer Sport (and other cars I'm sure):

I hadn't had a chance to wash the car in a few weeks with all the rain in Houston recently, so yesterday, I noticed that there were white mud spray streaks on most of the wheel wells and door trim. I washed the car but that didn't do much. I then used a ton of Armor All that seemed to get a lot of it off with heavy scrubbing, but it's not perfectly clean.

Any tips on cleaning it? Any tips on a treatment to keep this from happening again?

if it is good enough for CAT, it's good enough for me.

CAT, will that work as a cleaner too? The Amazon reviews say no, but you're one of the experts on this board.

Apply it with a stiff bristled brush and then wipe off...yes, it has some cleaning abilities.

But make sure the surface is clean before using it...use this stuff for what you can't clean (what you mentioned you can't get out of the plastic).

Never use Armor All...it will just exacerbate the problem next time it gets dirty, this stuff has repelling and lasting ability...it's not just liquid animal fat.

Thanks, making the purchase now. Does it leave a shiny or matte finish? I like shiny.

Leaves a natural, slightly shinier finish

303 Protectant is used on the space shuttle.

I have been using that stuff for years and its great for interior and exterior trim.

1ags, you saying that the 303 is good for protecting dashboards? wont dry out and crack the material after a while?

I am looking for something to put on my dash to protect it. I have a VW that has the soft-touch material dash so I am leary to using anything that will exacerbate cracking and peeling of the material.

303 is great, I have a 1998 jet ski that still looks relatively new because I'm applied the stuff to it since 2001.

Used 303 with great success on my old Jeep's plastic bumper caps. Much better than back to black.

Also, wanted to be the third person to say exacerbate on this thread.

bomb,

yes. I use 303 on almost ALL of my interior and exterior plastics.
