1997 Ford Escort.

Replaced the DPFE sensor as was recommended in a couple of earlier threads. The old codes are gone, but now I have this one. What does this mean, and how do I fix?

Also P0103 Mass Air Flow (MAF) Circuit High Input

All I did was replace the DPFE sensor.

***EDIT**** Taken it on two separate test drives now. All new codes, 0103 and 1401 went away. I'me left with the #2 misfire only. So the question now is do I just replace the plugs and wires, or go ahead and do the coil pack too?

Why would I initially get the voltage-type codes, and after a couple test drives they go away?

And yeah I know y'all think I should get a new car, but this is my learning car. It sucks when something breaks, but I kind of enjoy trying to fix it myself and learn how to do it. And as long as it runs with me only sinking a couple hundred bucks into it a year I will keep driving it.

Quick Google:

quote:
P1401 DPF EGR Sensor Circuit High Input

Possible Causes:

DPF EGR signal circuit open, or sensor ground circuit open
DPF EGR signal shorted to VREF or to VPWR
DPF EGR sensor is damaged or has failed
PCM has failed

Other than italicized, here are some possibilities.

The first time I didn't, but I did plug it in before I posted here. Still had the codes after I plugged it in, but they went away.

What do you think about the misfire? Plugs and wires only, or replace the coil pack too? Wires and plugs were done about a year ago. Would the other problems have caused it to run too hot and maybe just burned up a plug?

Buy a coil (borg warner), wires (Ford or BW) and Plugs (motorcraft), and put them in.

I thought you bought the plugs already?

Nope haven't done anything to the ignition yet, was going to do that last, after I replaced the sensor and EGR. Don't think I'm going to need the EGR so will return that and get a coil.

Thanks!
