Are they legal still, tried doing a search on google but came up empty. I think it might be a state or local law. I live in the SA area if anyone knows.

Don't know if they are legal or not, but we have one on our box truck at work and it's bad ass.
Had no idea WTF a "suicide knob" was, so, I googled...now I know:

I don't see how they could be illegal, it's not like it opens up beer bottles or lights a joint for you or something.

I'm used to hearing them called Necking Knobs.

I saw some of these Canadian knobs at Northern tool the other day.
I've been told they are illegal for everyone but semi trucks.... Take that with a grain of salt though.
Had one on and old tractor when I was a kid. Bad idea. Hit a stump with a front wheel, steering wheel spins very fast, suicide knob moving at mach 1, hits my wrist. OUCH. Been 50 years and I stll remember the pain.

I'm not sure why anyone would want a device dubbed a "suicide knob" in contemporary culture. The name came from somewhere. That just screams, install me so you can hurt yourself, or, if you're lucky, get a Darwin award.
The problem, like stated above, was on vehicles without power steering. A bump in the road doesn't send your steering wheel into a frenzy like it used to.
I don't see a point to having one unless you have an aftermarket steering box with a low ratio for some reason.

Suicide doors = awesome.
That's why I never mix several varieties of soda when I get a fountain drink or do a series of progressively longer back-and-forth sprints on a basketball court.

I think it's actually the opposite of that. It's definitely illegal to use one in a tractor-trailer, but I am unsure of the legality for regular passenger vehicles.
We also have them on both of our Cat Loaders. They are registered vehicles.
