We've got a 2007 VW Passat with about 48K miles. Over the last 2-3 weeks, the horn has randomly started honking (about 3 times). It will stay honking until you tap the horn part of the steering wheel.

Any ideas what might be going on? The car unfortunately went out of warranty two months ago, so we're hoping it's not anything major.

My guess would be a bad switch for the horn or maybe the clockspring.

Sounds more like the plastic is weak and just sort of sitting on the switch though.

My first vehicle was a '76 Dodge Power Wagon that would randomly honk when stopped. It can get embarrassing.

Seems to be an ongoing problem with the VW...
