07 CRV, noticed on a highway trip when I turned the A/C on there was a very high "whine" for about 2-3 seconds, almost makes you ears ring it was so loud. The air is still cold, but what was is weird it only seemed to happen at highway speeds. Could it be a bearing in the clutch for the compressor or the condenser motor when I am turning the a/c on?

IS it inside the car or under the hood?

Under the hood, I would say you have compressor clutch issues.

I would have it checked before it gets to hot, or whenever it feels right.

Sounds like under the hood, I wonder why it happens just at higher speeds?

As the vehicle ages, the gap in clutch clearance increases, so when its engaging, you hear the chirp. you can try to remove the clutch and see if it was shimmed from the factory, if so, remove the shim. I had a super duty with 180k that would disengage the compressor at lower rpms. Later when rpms woul increase , the comp would squeal and catch. removed the shim and it never did it again.

After searching around the web, I think I found a TSB on it, I am at 25k, but just out of warranty having it be an 07, any luck that the dealer might pay for it since there is a TSB on it?

Wouldn't hurt to ask. Isn't there a Honda tech on here that might chime in?

Many factors go into any decision for an after warranry adjustment. If you are local here in BCS call me(kyle) 979-696-2424.

If you are not local, call the dealer you use or the one closest to you.
