How long do you want to ignore this user?
I've owned my 2004 TSX for a few years and I'm kind of itching to start modifying it. I just put some new wheels/tires on it, and seeing the different look has got me curious about what else I can do to this thing.

I've done a bit of searching online, but I wanted to see if anyone on this board had any suggestions to throw my way. Thanks.

Intaker for sure

Yep, that's been the early suggestion by two of my buddies who I asked as well. Any recommendations of good places to shop for parts?

I'm at the mercy of Google otherwise.

You might also look into a more unrestricted exhaust. I don't know about tuning the computer, either, but if you can do that on top of the intake and exhaust = WIN!

A tangent, how are you liking the TSX? I'm looking at possibly moving over to one later this year.

Intaker and much larger exhaust.

If you want to get real crazy, 7.5" Pistons, but thats after you get a standalone fuel management system.

Trade it for something faster? Why would you put fart can exhaust on an Acura?

Having had a 2L version of that motor in my old RSX, don't worry about an exhaust, the stock unit on those engines isn't the bottleneck until you talk about forced induction. Intake will open up alot on the K24 engine, but only if you get an actual cold air that pulls air from outside the engine bay. Open element intakes that draw from inside the engine bay do nothing but sound louder than stock. The reflashes and programmable ECU's are handled by a company called Hondata, and they are awesome. A reflash is good if you don't plan to go too crazy, but once you start needing to be tuned, they have a programmable ECU that you can tune on any laptop from inside the car. They also use your stock ECU. info here http://www.hondata.com/reflash_tsx.html

My order of modifications would be:
Cold air intake, race header (if you are ok with eliminating the cat), reflash ecu, suspension (swaybars or full coilovers), supercharger (would need to upgrade to programmable ECU), exhaust.

I had a supercharger on my RSX and it was an absolute blast to drive. The motor can stand up to an incredible amount of stress. I had friends that got over 400whp out of the motor in a daily driver, and never had any reliability issues. I was about 315whp with a 9000rpm redline. You just need the right tune.

I'm enjoying it. First car I bought out of college, and it's treated me well.

I'm not huge on needing speed. I know I would take too much advantage of power if I had too much of it. This gives me enough sporty feel with some luxury touches as well.

Meh, I'm not trying to make it the fastest car it can be or anything.

Just hoping to find some suggestions for things I can do to this car.

@CATAGBQ04

The ironic thing about that video ('f***ing mustangs') is that I also have a '68 Mustang. Hah.

I'll be posting about that when I'm ready to start that project.

I'd just use said funds and pour them into the '68

Thanks, RyanC! Taking notes....

Suspension work is probably the most noticable thing you will do. If you want to corner on rails, and are willing to give up some ride quality, full coilovers are the way to go. If you want to handle better and still retain a good bit of ride comfort, a sport suspension like the Acura A-spec or the Mugen sport suspension is a good compromise. Mugen parts are good quality, but crazy expensive though. I had the Acura A-spec sport suspension with a set of competition swaybars, and I really liked the combination.

Don't pay a shop to do installations for you. Get a helms manual, they have detailed diagrams and torque specs for everything you'll need.

I always go for quality, and am willing to pay for it.

Are there any other benefits from coilovers vs. other? I'd like to lower the front by 1.2" and back by 1", which I'm sure could be done with springs and/or coilovers.

Just wanted to see what the advantages of going coilovers are. Big time handling improvement? Compromise on ride quality. Anything else I should be aware of?

I hope you don't remove the catalytic convertors. I am the resident "I like clean air" guy and hope you find no reason to remove emissions equipment. You'll fail emissions testing if you do.

SpicewoodAg,

I won't be tinkering the with engine much at all.

The only things I'm considering at this point are the cold air intake, lowering w/ coilovers or springs and maybe exhaust.

miiiiight de-badge the "ACURA" and "TSX" logos off the back and tint the headlamps.

Straight pipe that you can swap in/out for emissions tests.

I have a Cat, but also have a straight pipe I can swap in for track days.

Coilovers are better suited for instances where you want to adjust the suspension to meet your needs. Most models are fully height adjustable, and have multiple ride stiffness settings that you can adjust. A sport suspension kit is a pre-set pairing that is not adjustable, but is a little more agressive than stock.

As for throwing a check engine light when you remove the cat, google search for the spark plug nonfouler trick to keep your emissions system running and not throwing any codes. As far as clean air is concerned, the tsx motor running without a cat can pass a Texas emissions sniffer test. With all the diesels with their black smoke spewing everywhere, I'm okay with a car that smells a little like a go-cart, but is still within state mandated emissions requirements.
