How long do you want to ignore this user?
This motorcycle is a repo that I picked up a few weeks ago. I work for the bank. The battery is almost dead, it will run the electronics but won't start the bike.

What's the best way to get this bike running? Pop the clutch while I am rolling? Where on earth is the battery? I obviously didn't repo the owner's manual so I am hoping someone here is familiar with the bike.

Thanks

The battery is most likely under the seat. Connect it to a car battery, like jump starting a car, except do not turn the car on. Just remember that most motorcycles do not charge the battery until they are over a certain rpm such as 3-4k for that bike. It will take a long trip to charge it. Your best bet would be to go ahead and replace the battery or while you have access to it, install leads for a battery charger.

Good luck!

BTW, I would not recommend trying to push start it. Heavy bike might make it a quite a challenge.

1. Take it to the top of a hill
2. Put it in neutral and start down the hill (assuming brakes are good of course)
3. Once you get up to a nice speed (10-20 mph) quickly throw it into second and pop the clutch.
4. Ride it for 30 minutes
5. ???
6. Profit!

Or you could just jump start it like the previous poster said. But I think my way is more fun...

Most batteries are under the seat. Second the leaving the car off.

From what I can find, you have to take a few panels off of the side of the plastic bike to find the battery.

I think I am going with the hill method. I'm not one for testing the water in the shallow end anyway.

We have a Harley in storage too and I can see the battery without looking for it. Thumbs up for Harley.

Ok I actually went and looked for the battery, it's on the side of the bike behind 2 plastic panels and bracket...I tried the emergency jumper box I keep in my truck (wasn't fully charged so I figured it might actually be better) and the thing fired up.

Taking the bike for a ride at lunch to get the charge and see how many bugs I can swallow.

Thanks for the tips.

$7000.00 if anyone is interested

Your best bet is simply replacing the battery. You can try the hill method, but 1400cc is a lot to turnover; good luck with that.

I've had no luck getting a dead motorcycle battery to hold a charge after it died. You can get it going again and try to recharge it, but most of the time it still won't hold a charge. YMMV.

Be careful, that's an insanely fast bike!

You can probably see it in the pics but it looks like previous owner laid it down on the right side.

It's in Groesbeck (40m east of waco)

Also, previous owner may have had some deviant associates, it looks like the tank and a couple body panels were key'd. The exhaust on the side where it was laid down also has some scratches.
