Hola,

I have a grenaded Toyota 2zzge engine. I'm probably going to pull the head on it this week and inspect the block to determine the amount of damage. Does anyone know about the Nikasil cylinder plating process?

Due to the fragile nature of my engine as well as the the MMC lining, reboring is discouraged (something about a hot knife thru butter), as well as resleeving (poor heat dissapation, cylinder walking, potential block damage due to the resleeving process).

This is just to get the engine running again with stock pistons,rings..comp. ratios, etc, not for engineering a "built" race engine. Anyone know of a machine shop in Htown that might know about this process..thanks.

I have had motorcycle cylinders nikasil treated many times, but I went out of state to specialists in that form of plating. There are several good shops to choose from, but the top 2 get most of the business, and they were WAY outa Texas. Millenium Technologies is the name of one.

my 2 stroke bike has this. There was a company that had a booth at the OTC that did this. I'll dig through the brochure bag to see if I can find it later today.

I missed the OTC this year.....I figured it was a hotbed of talk of the spill. Decent turnout?

Anyway, back on topic, I have a coupla nickasil 2 st bikes and I also used it on my Ducati 900SS and a couple of big bore single 676cc Rotax motors.

Are you talking 2 st dirt bike or a street bike in your case?
