This happened to me twice today. Pretty scary.

Had to kick it in neutral and re-start the engine.

It happened while I was turning. Don't know if that was a coincedence or not.

It has never happened before.

I did get a new battery over the weekend.

The only thing I suspect is that the neg. battery temrinal is a very worn and has become loose. But would that be the problem?

Year make and model, and mileage, engine size etc would be really helpful.

Well, if the negative battery terminal lost contact, then you wouldn't have a ground, and nothing electrical would work.

LONG time ago I had a Datsun p/u with a diesel engine. If the oil pressure got too low, it would kill the engine. This usually happened first when I took a hard corner, causing the low amount of oil in the pan to slosh to one side and drop the oil pressure...

So long as your alternator was functioning correctly, the engine should still run, in theory, right?

Problem is likely electrical, and could be a sensor sending some BS to the engine computer and causing it to spaz out.

Mine truck has some kind of short...the emergency fuel shut off kicks in while im driving for no reason...so I have to pull over and flip the switch.

My truck died on the highway once at 70 mph. It was a problem with the distributor cap.

My son had the same prob w/ a 2000 S-10. It ended up being a bad connection at the battery. We put a washer at the connections, between batt and cable, and he hasn't had an electrical storm since. Hope this helps.

I think that would only be the case if it was the positive connection that was loose. Because it's the ground, losing that means nothing on the vehicle has a good ground anymore, so there's not a complete circuit. That's what I'm thinking, anyway. I could be wrong.

Yeah, you could be right about that one.

I've had 2 seperate vehicles have issues with the battery connections being a little loose. The car would die while going down the street and I would have to pull over, jiggle the cables, and it would start right back up. Sure was annoying and a little dangerous, especially when i rolled out of the CS Best Buy parking lot onto Texas because it cut out.

Had this happen to me when my fuel pump ground wire was loose...you recently install a receiver hitch on the truck?

could be the air intake....a piece of paper gets stuck up there, engine dies object dislodges, start engine while moving, object lodges again, truck dies, object dislodges.......

It has happened before.

I would imagine that the intake for air is small enough that an unfolded sheet of paper wouldnt get in and clog the entire face of the air filter and restrict it that much.

The only thing I can offer is that in my Jeep Grand Cherokee, Every 70,000 miles or so, after driving it for a while (especially in hot weather), it would die when I came to a stoplight. It would start right back up and continue to run, but it just wouldn't hold the revs up when you came to a stop. Turned out that cleaning the fuel injection system fixed the problem.
