I found out today that my tires are filled with nitrogen. I have had my tires filled with air 4-5 times. What problems can or will this cause?

Nitrogen is more resistant to heat changes than every day air. which means you get more consistent air pressure and less fluctuation in the tire sidewall. On the flip side, the air that you breathe is around 80% nitrogen and air does contain moisture which can accumulate in small amounts in the tire (not enough to give a second thought). The problem with filling a tire with nitrogen is that the first time you introduce air to it you eliminate all of the helpful properties of the nitrogen and render it inert. Nitrogen was originally introduced to tires for racing because of it's resistance to heat. If you watch professional racing all the tires are pre mounted and fill before they come on the track and just in case the teams have a pressure canister filled with nitrogen for adjusting the tires air pressure.
The tire rack has thought about using nitrogen in our tire and wheel packages off and on for many years but there really is no advantage to our customers and your customers for us to do this, since most people do not readily have access to it and they would just end up using regular air.

All that being said, if you WANT to spend unnecessary money, I'll give you my address and you can mail those checks to me. Will do you about as much good.
