Just noticed this thread and thought I would comment. Prior to this past year, University had made great strides in getting things turned in the right direction. Testing scores were going up and behavior issues were waaaaaay down. UHS had an outstanding administrative team, led by an Aggie, and a dedicated and talented faculty. Everyone worked together to try and provide an excellent learning environment for the students. At the beginning of last year, the district brought on a new principal to replace Dr. Shepard. He was asked to take over UHS's lone feeder school and get it on track. The thinking was that this would only help the already rapidly improving situation at the high school.
Unfortunately, the individual they brought in to take over turned out to be a complete disaster. This individual, along with a couple of others, is now gone and Dr. Shepard has been brought back in to clean up the mess. Had this individual been allowed to remain, UHS would have experienced a 30%-40% turnover in their faculty. There would have been a mass exodus.
I'll leave it at that. Please know there are good people, many of whom are Aggies, working very hard to educate the youth in our community. It's a shame that something like this happened and sabotaged a narrative that so many were working to change.
