The Yoemen played a really difficult non district n schedule, losing 4, which helped. The Fox commentators called their road to the championships the "group of death" in 3A.

Several teams from the region could have won this game. Yoe so fast compared to Mineola

Great game tonight. So many thought these kids had no chance. The pre district schedule was what got them here.
Honestly we have at least two if not three more years of great kids coming. Getting an extra six weeks of practice every year helps.

Is it true that the Sims kid is going to OU?

I was shocked that Reid Nickerson (Dickerson?) wasn't receiving more attention. THat kid is a winner.

Sims is a "preferred" walk on at OU or at least that's what is being said.

Dede Westbrook class of '12 just signed with OU so that is the connection. He played for Blinn the last 2 years.

Nickerson is going to be a Doctor. He wasn't even going to play football this year but Coach Rhoades begged him. Reid is probably already half way through with his bachelors degree. He has done that co-enrollment with Temple College that has all the pre-med stuff. He has already earned his white coat. He is a brilliant student.

Oh, he must be in the Bio Med program.

Kids at TEmple do that, also.

That's a pretty cool program.

I would dare say there has never been a more dominant showing in the semi's and finals, AT ANY LEVEL, as the Yoemen put on these past two weeks. WE DID NOT PUNT A SINGLE TIME IN THE SEMIFINAL OR FINAL. That's insane. And I can't recall exactly, but given the number we hung on Rockdale in the quarters, I don't think we punted more than twice in that game.

Nickerson started out the year recovering from an injury and really couldn't move much. Once he got past that, adding yet another facet to an already loaded offense, it made a night and day difference. If he wanted, I think he could definitely play college ball somewhere, but frankly I'm glad he doesn't...much larger things in store for him.

No doubt; the kid was sharp in his post-game interview.

The Yoemen were the most dominant team (as you said) all day, yesterday.

They were incredibly impressive. The announcers kept referring to the youth of Mineola, and that was true. But, it's my understanding from what my friends/family in Cameron tell me and what Coach Rhoades said that HIS team is young.

Apparently Yoe has only a handful of seniors on this team and actually starts as many sophomores as they do seniors.....I'd say as long as the coach stays they're the favorite at this point for next season....Yoe Yoe Yoe, Foe (4) in a Row???

Yep. They key is Rhodes. As long as he's there, Yoe will compete for titles

I still cannot believe he has not landed a gig at a bigger school. He has applied at some...

He has also gotten some but having daughters in high school has made it tough to leave. His last daughter will be a senior next year. I think he will stay for that but after that I figure he's fair game. I may be wrong though.

We have at least three classes of athletes coming up. It's too early to judge the 8th graders but they appear to have a lot of talent as well.

I don't know what high school coaches make but Rhoades is compensated very well.
