My daughter decided during lunch today to check out the newly opened Aldi store...fastest shopping trip of her life! Honestly, she walked in, looked and walked out!

Supposedly their milk is a lot cheaper than HEB or WalMart the two places we do regular grocery shopping(Sam's too) and she didn't even make it to the dairy products area.

The store has boxes stacked on top of boxes, not on shelving and the fronts of the boxes are opened...take out what you need and use or recycle the empty box. It seemed to her there were several confused shoppers who just threw the empties into the aisles! The store did stock brand items other than their own but maybe only ONE other option.

While she was so briefly inside I saw three people fighting with the grocery baskets outside! Apparently you push a quarter into the lock on the basket and when it is back in the waiting line and the cable inserted back into the lock your quarter pops out...two of the three left their baskets pushed into the line but gave up on the locking cables and their quarters.

We will wait for some of the new to wear off and venture back once more to closely inspect the offerings and situation as she said too many people and none of them familiar with the layout/products created a huge CF(she told me not to ask what that stood for but I can imagine)!

That sounds like terrible shopping, but AWESOME people watching.

I wonder if it can top the Bellmead HEB for people watching?

The only thing that tops the Bellmead HEB for people watching is the Bellmead Walmart.

Once when on an ice cream errand for my wife, I encountered two women in the motorized carts (Bellmead HEB), parked in front of the Blue Bell ice cream. They were each surrounded by a gaggle of teens. This was going on for nearly 30 minutes. All I wanted was some damn ice cream. It had to be Blue Bell, because I had just repatriated back to Texas.

I was in the Bellmead Walmart today. Was actually disappointed at the lack of train wrecks in there for a Saturday. Guess they all went to Sea World for Spring Break

OMG, yesterday the same daughter and I ended up at the Franklin Ave WalMart and what a sight to behold it was. This was after church time but early afternoon and the entire south Waco population was still dressed in their Sunday finest. I haven't seen as many colores de botas vaqueras y botas picudas Mexicanas since being in San Antonio! I thought it was cinco de Mayo and my daughter said she thought she heard musica espanol from the speakers.

There have been sentiments that this population has taken over south Texas but it is a fact they have taken over the WalMercado de Hispanicas en Juaco!

We were at the Chuck E. Cheese in Waco yesterday afternoon/evening. Oh lord. I've been there before, but yesterday was the most interesting it's ever been.

Between kids running wild and throwing the footballs and basketballs throughout the restaurant and the one crazy lady yelling at screaming when she one tickets at the games, it was Waco at its finest.

Add to that the fact that it took an hour and fifteen minutes for our food, and I don't think we'll go back there for a while.

There is an Aldi opening up in Atascocita. Not thrilled about it, but it might get some of the tourists out of my HEB and that would be nice.

The I-35 tourists have a North Waco location of their own, it's called Bellmead and the exit ramp almost enters the HEB parking lot.

The touristas of South Waco have their own HEB also and the meat labels are in espanol and indeed the musica playing is Tejano.
