Another place you might want to try is Rockport, which is about a 30 minute drive from Port A. I too am a home designer / builder. If you like, post your E-Mail & I will be happy to send additional information. Thanks!

Port A is good if you want a beach to walk on and water to go into.

Rockport has a nice beach for walking or wading but not swimming.

Aransas Pass might be your best bet if you want access to water, a place to put a boat in to fish the bays.

Padre Isles offers easy access to Corpus shopping, to the bays, to the Gulf for your boat (via Packery Channel dredging) and is a short run to a good beach
