The county is going to limit development on the beach. All new structures cannot be closer than 350 feet behind the beach vegetation line. It will be the strictest limit in the state.

Somebody actually told somebody in government that building on a barrier island is not a good idea?

I personally think the beachfront in Nueces county would be great for development if done well. Right now a lot of the land in from the dunes is privately owned and noone I know really cares about it. As you go towards Port A there are sone really nice homes that overlook the the dunes onto the Gulf that look great, and do not hinder anyones access to the beach. I am not worried about the land North of Packery...and immediately South.

What i would worry about is PINS and the land between the Holiday Inn and PINS, Bob Hall Pier, etc. That is our real treasure and is used extensively.

As a guy who just bought a home in Padre Isles this is just my humble opinion.

I hate development on the island. You can have your million dollar home out there, but it is raising our insurance!

Work hard, quit whining, and make money. Then insurance costs become a non-issue.

Yes, I will work hard to off-set your high insurance costs.
