I will be coming to Victoria on business in a couple of weeks. What are some good restaurants?

Good Question and I live in the area.

There's not a lot that sticks out.

There's some good deli's downtown - Fossatti's and Rosebud. I'm not sure how late they're open though. We usually just go for lunch.

Toscana is back open for lunch, but it's kinda expensive and not open for dinner yet.

For Mexican food, La Tejanita and La Hacienda are good. Pelican's Wharf for seafood.

Then, the chain resturants...Chili's, Johnny Carino's, Roadhouse, Montana Mike's.

Not a whole lot to choose from.

La Hacienda ROCKS, and is right off the loop near the mall.

Fossatti's and Rosebud (both downtown) have a great small-town feel and the owner of Rosebud is always kind.

If you are up for Chinese, Dragon Palace next to HEB on Navarro is tasty, but only go on Tuesday or Thursday; and always ask for the older blonde waitress. She treats you right.

If you are with a client, I'd suggest Toscana's on Navarro, near the old Bennagains. Since the Oak Room closed shop, Toscana's is then nicest place in town.

Lastly, Tejas on Navarro is always good for a cajun chicken salad. I may be there for lunch today...

Texas Drive Inn fried chicken gizzards on the Port Lavaca Highway. Extra crispy.

Has anybody eaten at Leo's Feed Lot near the airport? I'm not from Victoria, but I heard that they have pretty good food.

The Feedlot is very good, but it's closed right now. They're supposed to be re-opening soon, but I'm not sure of the whole story.

Leo passed away several years ago and his wife tried to keep it open for a couple of years but her heart wasn't in it. So she sold it and it has gone through a couple of changes since then. It's not bad but not up to Leo's standards.

What's that FANTASTIC barbeque joint on the Port Lavaca Highway? I can't remember the name but it is soooooooooo gooooooooooood!!

I know this is an old post, but has anyone tried Greek Brothers in Victoria? It's at the old Bennigans. Just curious. I know the one in El Campo is good, but haven't tried the new one in Victoria.

Greek Bros in El Campo is great! Aren't you guys getting an Olive Garden? I was in town with relatives and we ate at Luby's in the mall.

Yes Wrangler, been there 3 times a week since they opened. Food is great! Drinks are better!

Ditto on the Greek Bros. Rest. It's awesome, good atmosphere, great service, and tasty food. A semi-upscale that Victoria needs.

Greek Brothers has a very good happy hour...and a very tasty salmon appetizer. TexasGal01 and I go there a couple times a week now.

The Oak Room is open again.

The old Plaza Club has been bought by Olde Victoria Restaurant. It's very upscale and the food is excellent. Just look for the tallest building in town and go to the top story. Great view, too!

That's the Oak Room that LSF is talking about.

There's actually a new Pizza Hut/Wing Street by the mall. It's much nicer than the old Pizza Huts.

Heard Baytown Seafood on Houston Hwy is good.

I ate at WingStreet this evening, not bad and very clean.

Wife and I tried to eat at Wingstreet last weekend. Were seated right away, but sat there almost 15 minutes and no one came to even take our drink order. The place did not even have but 5 tables of people. However it appeared to have approximately 5 persons "working" besides cooking staff. While walking out the two hostesses (who were sitting at a table near the door) looked at us without even getting up and asked what was wrong. We politely told them.

The fact that they did not even get up or offer to get a waitperson speaks volumes about their service.

Lazy.

Hacienda does rock. M&M Pinto Bean has one mean breakfast taco..The Taco Loco with Eggs and Cheese. Large. Won't have to eat again till dinner, and that is questionable.

Tru dat, it's ginormous.

Hacienda does rock, I just don't like the fact that they had 40+ demerits on their last health inspection.

Saw some comments on the deer processing thread you had made. Obviously you reside in the Victoria area, and are interested in hunting.

What area do you currently hunt?

I hunt on a lease in Brownwood with my brother and a couple of other guys. I haven't hunted in this area for about 6 years now, I was supposed to get on a lease down the San Antonio River road on the way to Refugio, but it fell through.

If you like Hacienda, but the demerits bother you, drive to Port Lavaca to go to Taqueria la Parilla. They have the exact same menu and it's just as good.

I miss the Pinto Bean

I've never eaten there!
