My friend that lives in the Corpus area will need a radical prostatectomy due to prostate cancer. He has a urologist down there, but is less than impressed. Does anyone have a recommendation for a top urologist in Corpus and also someone who does robot assisted prostatectomy? or is the choice to go to Houston/Austin?

My internal medicine doc here in Corpus told me some time ago that if there was one specialist Corpus was short on it would be Urology. I would think he would probably want to head to San Antonio or another city to find more choices.

Dr. Alan Nisbet is very good and is an Aggie.

Late response but always looking to get the word out there. Profound Medical has a very impressive procedure for prostate cancer and/or BPH patients who qualify. The procedure is called TULSA - it is incisionless, there is zero blood loss, outpatient procedure with great results that are backed by solid long term data. Significantly higher quality of life outcomes, specifically ED and incontinence.

If anything it's worth considering and asking your urologists about TULSA, especially if you want to avoid surgery or radiation.

UT Physicians Urology Department at the Med Center in Houston. That's where I go.
