What area of Corpus would be a good place to buy a house?

My fiance and I are thinking about buying a house and living there for about 3 years because of her job (I already work down in the Sinton area and commute from San Antonio). Since this is not going to be a permanent home, I don't want to break the bank and buy a $250k house. We will need a house with a yard for the dog and a garage would be nice. We could do some minor remodeling if necessary but I do not want to work every second I am home. Like I said this will only be a 3ish year home.

Possibly even consider Portland or Ingleside? Any help or leads on realtors will be appreciated.

I live in Portland and highly recommend it if you're going to live in this area. Based on what you said, maybe take a look at East Cliff. It's an older neighborhood with some nice homes that might fit your price range. Some streets are certainly better than others.

Calallen

I'm currently buying a home in Calallen, nice homes and great pricing. Flour Bluff and Portland is full of white trash.

My doctor lives in Calallen and is on the School Board there. Cant say enough good things about her. I would think Calallen if I didnt want to be on the island....I live off of FM 624 ( Northwest Blvd-Calallen), but about 90 miles west !!

We just purchased a home in CC (Weber and Yorktown area - New homes going up out there and are very nice, high quality builds.. Good prices too.

Anyways, we used Julie at Group One. I've got to say, she knows her stuff, and would definitely use her again for anything real estate related. She stays on top of her work, and she's very good at negotiating and really working for you. She's a great communicator and uses whatever means necessary to make sure you have everything you need. Find a place on the island dude. You will not regret it. You can find a landlocked house not on a canal for under $200. I lived there for a couple years and it was pretty awesome.

yeah and you can live the island life, a slower life and relaxing on weekends, and pick up breakfast tacos from stripes like everybody else.

what does landlocked mean?

Just guessing, but landlocked means "not on a canal". A lot of the island homes are built on canals.
