This would be for dinner. No Tex Mex or fast food. I found these 2 places on the chamber website.

Any suggestions?

Texas Seafoood & Steakhouse,

Baytown Seafood & Steakhouse.

I haven't ate at that particular Baytown Seafood in Wharton but I ate at the one in Van Vleck and it was good. There are several Baytown Seafood restaurants in that area.

Hinze's is really good.

Is the sandwich place on the square any good now that it changed owners?

This is probably too late to help.

I would pick Texas over Baytown Seafood.

PattyCakes or what ever, on the square.

I would probably drive to El Campo to Greek Brothers or the Firehouse.

Since we're out of Wharton now, is the cafe in Pierce any good?

If you want to drive a little farther, go to Louise. There is a place called "The Kitchen Table". It's on business 59 in the middle of town. There portions are huge. The price is not bad either. The owner is Class of '07!

I've never been to the cafe in Pierce. I asked someone the other day if it was open and they didn't know.

If it were at all possible I would say my grandma's house, but she passed away in '77 so I can only taste her fried chicken in my memory. But damn that woman could cook. Especially the kolaches she made from scratch, including the dough, and don't get me started on her chicken soup with the homemade noodles. I still can see the rolled out dough sitting on newspaper on her kitchen table and see her rolling it up an slicing it before cooking. Somebody needs to make a time machine.
