Hey guys, gonna be in Beeville for 6 weeks this winter for work.

Wondering if anyone know of:

1) places to hang out and such for the 20ish crowd?

2) places to get in on pick-up basketball/football/soccer/baseball/volleyball/whatever games.

3) dancing (country/salsa/swing)

4) places that have Wi-Fi.

Cruise Beeville for CBC chicks...

Just go to Austin man. Lots of places to go there.

We used to hunt near there years ago. I think there is a country dancehall called The Purple Sage just north of town on 59. You should be able to figure things out quickly when you get there, but I think you will definitely be playing video games more than you ever have.

Things to do in Beeville.

- Golf at the crappy nine hole muni course.
- Go bowling...
- Watch lots of movies at the cheap theater.
- Go to the dance hall on 59.
- I was a fan of Mi Familia and Shorty's.
- Check out the new Wal*Mart and Chili's.

As a refugee from that place, I can assure you there are many things to do there: get beat up or arrested by the cops, develop a drug or alcohol problem, knock up one of the brain dead women and spend your life working a dead end job and raising psychotic kids you don't like, get a job in the oilfields and develop a drug or alchol problem, leave for SA or Houston or Austin, get religion and become a Beeville zombie, develop a drug or alcohol problem.

I think that about covers it. Did I mention develop a drug or alcohol problem?

So I guess I now know most of what my patient's concerns will be in clinic....

That was a golf course? I thought it was a cow pasture with gopher holes.

There is not a big heroin or crack problem there. The meth freaks ran them out of town.


When the new Super WalMart started testing employees for marijuana, half the town went on unemployment.

And I am told the deputies there have really cut back on the number of beatings---they could not figure out which end of the stick to use.

The dance hall on 59 is closed. This past year a new sports bar called Scores opend up on St. Mary's that isn't bad. It's certainly better than Riverbend or the 19th Hole.

Other than that, there's what's been mentioned above. The Muni golf course, get an invite to the country club golf course, bowling, and a movie theater. Oh and the only Wi-Fi I know about is at the Best Western.

I've lived here since starting a new job in September (which I love) but there really ain't a whole lot to do.

So ya'll pretty much got Beeville down. Been here only 2 days and already bored. I sadly hoping work stays busy so I'm distracted from nothing to do here. Luckily I get saved by a vacation week next week

181 north takes you to SA and south to CC.

US 59 goes to Victoria or Houston and south to Laredo.

Enjoy your time and I will pray for you that you get out before summer, which is when it really gets bad. Imagine Corpus with no breeze.

Did you go by Elder's Country Market and get a smoked ham for Christmas? The hams there and the barbecue sandwiches, are among the few redeeming factors re Beeville and, assuming there is a God, the only reason why He, in His wisdom, has not done a Sodom and Gommorah on the place.

My own faith in God was shaken when I learned, at age 8, that Skidmore had twice been destroyed by fire and Beeville not even once.

Hahaha! Very true, all of the bbq at Elders is great! I also like being able to go in there and talk with the butcher and get fresh meat cut just the way I want it. The little store there is also far better than fighting crowds at WalMart or HEB for staples.

Hey Kenneth, sorry I was not in Beeville for awhile then lost my internet for a day or two. I'll be around in Beeville until Jan 20th or so.

If you want to do a little half-stepping (no two-stepping down here)- Schroeder dancehall near Goliad is good, about 40 mins from Beeville, there is always a good mix of age ranges.. majority 20ish and cheap beer. http://www.schroederdancehall.com/

I forgot about Schroeder---used to go see Ray Price there when I was a kid.

But please note that all the good stuff to do in Beeville requires driving to and through other towns. Goliad is thirty miles from Beetown and then you go about ten miles towards Cuero and hook a right and go another five or ten.

If I had to live in Beeville again, I would do the skydiving bit without the chute.

As for Live Oak County, where I also lived as a kid, it was better than Beeville in one respect----it was closer to Nuevo Laredo.

actually, I am hoping to move to your favorite venue, Paris France, in about two years. I will let you know how the fishing is but I am told the perch in the Seine are not as much to your taste as the hardheads in Conn Brown Harbor, your favorite fishing hole.

Beeville aint in the picture at all.

I heard you don't even have to take a fishing pole when fishing in France, you just walk along the bank and the fish surrender too you!
