I just had a newborn 4 weeks ago, and my wife will be on maternity leave for the next 2 months but after that she will be going back full time. My wife is a nurse working 12 hr shifts and I am a Medical Device rep working pretty crazy hours. We are looking for a nanny to watch my lil boy 3-5 days a week.

Do any of you guys have any suggestions or should I just consider a daycare?

We have a 3 year old and have been fortunate to have a nanny for the entire time. IT WAS NOT EASY FINDING HER THOUGH! We lucked into it because she was a "stay at home wife."

You should check around. There is also a nanny site called Aupair.com.

I would REALLY REALLY encourage you to go with gut feel and do some serious interviews of candidates. We installed security cameras and told the candidates. Some didn't like it and wouldn't do it. However, we have them for protection of both the Nanny...and our child.
