One thing I noticed with the flyover today was the total destruction of the beaches on the Seawall. The water was terminating at the rip rap at the base of the Seawall. Surely they'll rebuild the beaches, I mean tourism drives the economy....
To some extent the Gulf will put some of that sand back. During storms sand is moved off the beach onto sandbars off shore. After the storm it moves back onto the beach. Granted that movement wont really occur until spring when the prevailing wind direction stays conducive. Of course longshore drift will move a lot of that sand southward as well.
I can't imagine that they wouldn't rebuild the beaches. Like you said, tourism is our economy. We'll definitely need the cash from those tourists to rebuild.
