- grew up in League City and spent many days in Galveston, but I'm sad to say I have not been to the beach there in over 15 years. we're taking a 9 yr old baseball team there this weekend to play in a tournament.

I've heard Pirates is the place to take the boys for skim boarding, beach activities etc. Can you drive on Pirates? Is it easy to spot the access point?

Thanks in advance

Are you planning on renting a house? Pirate's Beach is the name of a neighborhood. As far as I know, you can't drive on the beaches around there. There should be public walkovers though. If you're planning on renting a house, this is a nice area.

Staying at a hotel. We could not find any weekend beach house rentals. All were for full weeks.

What hotel? If the hotel is on Seawall and it were me, I would just take the kids to one of the beaches along Seawall. That way you have lifeguards to help watch them and a beach that gets the seaweed scraped off of it each morning.

But if you have a reason for needing to drive on the beach, there are a few vehicular beach access points on the west end. If you drive past Pirate's Beach and then just past Palm Beach, there is a vehicular beach access spot before the State Park. There are also some that I know of further down towards Sea Isles. There are brown signs indicating these public access areas.

Just past Pirates Beach West there is a small parking area on the beach where you can park and unload and setup your beach spot.

I can mark it on google maps if you'd like to see an exact location. It's right before the state park.

Thanks - that was the information I was looking for. We're staying at the Waterpark Inn...not close to the beach, but evidently close to the baseball fields.

Yep, that's close to the baseball fields as well as being close to Schlitterbahn, Moody Gardens, and the Flight Museum.

I'll warn you now, you're going to have a bunch of 9 year olds begging to go to Schlitterbahn.

believe me, Schlitterbahn is going to be on the agenda......baseball will be secondary on this trip.
