Any of you guys live in that neck of the woods? What advice or pros/cons can you let me in on?
I'd appreciate any (serious ) responses.

Thanks and Gig 'em!

Nothing much has changed from my write-up except 205 Bar is now Double Deuce and Scoreboard is under new management.

I also failed to include that there are quite a few adult sports leagues around town, including Softball, Kickball, plenty of activities at the Healthplex, and a pick-up game of Volleyball in the park during the summer every Sunday night.

Yeah, I spend most of my free time in Port A and Corpus now.

Lonestar-

I am looking at taking a job in corpus and was wondering what you have to say about it. I can't post new topics at this time so i thought this might be my chance to ask.

Wookie...

I live in CC. Where would you be moving from? What kind of industry are you in? I'm in Education and LSF is in chemical processing.

Corpus isn't too bad, but it depends where you are moving FROM, how old you are, and if you're married/single.

The cost of living isn't bad. Fishing is great. What activities are you into?

My wife and I would be moving from CS. I have worked for this and other universities for the last 8 years and will be moving to a consulting position.

Mostly I am trying to get a feeling for the town itself and the type of social activities and night life for people in their early 30's. We are making a trip down this weekend to check it out and were wondering what the rental market for housing is down there. We want to rent first so we can get a feel for where we would like to live.

I would be workign in the downtown area and my wife would be looking for a job in the social services or non-profit area. Really we are just kind of looking to get as much info as possible to get an idea of the area.

She is from the Panhandle orginally and I am from out of state.

Well CC offers more than CS since it's bigger.

We have a minor league Hockey team...CC Rayz, and AA Affiliate of the Houston Astros...CC Hooks baseball team.

There are ample amount of restaurants for sure and depending on what kind of nightlife you like, there's some here.

There are several live music venues and some big names come here but not as frequently as San Antonio, Austin, or Houston. If you like the country music in CS then you'll see them pass thru here...Stoney, Wade Bowen, Randy Rogers, Pat Green, Kevin Fowler, Ragweed, etc.

I grew up in Corpus, moved away for about 10 years, now have moved back and, to me, it's pretty much the same place it was 10 years ago, with the exception of the CC Hooks, and I'd much rather live in San Antonio or Austin, but that's me, who grew up here.

If you were in your 30's and single I'd say it'd be questionable to move here if you were looking to find a mate, but since you are married, I think you'll find it a pretty decent place to be.

If you like water sports you'll like it here. People give the beach a bad rap because it's not tranquil like the Virgin Islands, but I love the beach and you can have a ton of fun on the water. Port Aransas is only 20 minutes away and a blast in the summertime. Fishing, boating, sailing, surfing, kiteboarding, etc, you can do year round. If you like to hunt, and know someone, the hunting is not too bad either but a lot of the game has been depleted...unless you like hunting hogs.
